Southeastern Dermatology: Ford Michael J MD

I came to this dermatology office looking for answers to skin conditions I’ve been dealing with for years. The appointment mostly consisted of being asked questions, which I understood was part of the process, but I was expecting an actual discussion or guidance afterward. Unfortunately, the doctor did not return to speak with me about my concerns. Instead, a medical assistant came in to relay what the doctor had prescribed. While I understand she was communicating his instructions, it was disappointing not to hear directly from the doctor—especially when I had specific questions and concerns I had already discussed. The prescribed items, yes may be better than over the counter products that I’ve already tried and that haven’t helped. But were just the same things creams and solutions that I had advised had not worked in the past and only address one of the skin issues I came in about. When I asked follow-up questions about some of the issues I had raised with the doctor, the medical assistant paused and had to think for a mintue and the asnwer I received gave such uncertainty i did know if she was saying just something to answer my question or if it was what the doctor said. I came in hoping for clarity, answers, or at least a plan. I left feeling empty-handed, discouraged, and with even more questions than when I arrived and what added to this even more was the unreasuring feelings that I left with. It was honestly hurtful to seek help and walk away feeling unheard.

I Do NOT recommend this group. They missed an advanced melanoma on my husband which would have killed him had it been left untreated much longer. They only excised and biopsied the melanoma when I finally INSISTED that biopsy it after a couple of YEARS of their saying, "it’s nothing"!!!! We immediately pivoted to Dr. Cognetta, who, along with Dr. Rosenberg, saved my husband’s life! Dr. Ford never even called us to see how we were doing after his PA gave us the bad diagnosis! I would give Ford’s group zero stars, but I had to put one on there to write this review. I personally went to see Ford many years ago (before my husband’s situation) and switched to a new doctor after one visit… he barely even looked at me… not a thorough exam at all. Kathy Allman

The staff were incredibly kind along with Dr. Ford. I went in to get a few areas checked, and Dr. Ford told me all the areas looked normal and briefly explained why. I appreciated the concise and easy to understand explanations. I’ll definitely be here again for any future dermatology visits.

Dr. Ford is incredibly knowledgeable. He can see issues instantly and I know he has my best interest at heart. I highly recommend Southeastern Dermatology for any of your skin needs/wants, from cosmetic to a skin exam, they are the best!

I was seeing dr. Ford dermatology, I never did care for him because of his sarcasm. I think he didn’t care for me either. I refused a blue light treatment once and that got him P/O at me. Then I wanted him to refill my prescription for fluorouracil and he rejected it. So I canceled my next appointment, and told them I wouldn’t be back.

Chris and Jen are awesome. I really appreciate how they treat you as a person as opposed to a number. Very busy office but they always have time to answer your questions and determine the best course of treatment.

I saw Dr. Ford only on my 1st visit. No issues or long wait. His PA Chris has seen me on every visit since and I've been very happy with them.
