Schenectady County Public Library: Hon Karen B. Johnson Main Library

A busy library with offerings for all ages and across all media. Staff is really friendly and helpful. Film series is fun and a great option on a rainy day. My first visit was frustrating as every adult in every section I went to was on a phone. Here's a hint -- want a quiet spot to read a book -- the children's and teen's area is quite a find.

I love this library. It is the example of a central library location. Staff are friendly and helpful. Knowledgeable too! There is always fun exhibits and stuff to do. Normally is a good quiet place where nobody bothers you for no reason but I was bothered by a staff member for doing hair in the library , which I’ve done hair before multiple times with no issues, but for some reason they told me to leave and finish it outside after I already was there for 3 hours doing hair. They made up some random health violation policy to try and embarrass me but that staff member is the embarrassment👎🏽👎🏽🍅🍅she’s just bored and had nothing better to do as her boring job of being a librarian, it’s honestly pathetic🤷‍♀️smh..

Wow I was shocked how good this place was. It was busy with local traffic, but the librarians were very cordial and helpful. They had a lot of services and easy to find parking.

Nice library in downtown Schenectady. Cross corner from the courthouse with a lovely children's area and quiet seating areas.

Very nice Public Library in Schenectady County. Excellent Staff to help you out. I haven't been there in about 10years and am very impressed. I will certainly be going in back and very shortly. Great place to go. Many books to choose from. An excellent place to go and browse around for your Books. Will definitely be going back. An excellent Staff to help out and need Something.

The Library is a resource that is very beneficial to society. Everyone should read two books a year or more! Copies, scans, and research available here and very affordable!
