Schenectady Community Action Program (SCAP)

I have been in contact with this place several times and I’ve been turned away for every single service that they supposedly offer. I was told by someone in there office and was told to find a job that pays more,I’m not even sure exactly why this building is still standing. They don’t actually even give any useful resources other than the department of social services complete joke I would love to know where the funding is going as you all get it..

I don’t get how you guys are advertising or advocating to be a place of resources when your workers are incompetent and inconsistent, and gonna say you provide housing management and never actually look into where you are placing people, and genuinely have the best intentions for those who need a helping hand, these people are already suffering and paying you guys at that.

My experience this morning surprised me, especially for a place that claims to be for the people. I called to get information and the lady that answered the phone completely brushed me off and seemed as if she was in a rush and didn’t have the time to give me the information. Towards the end of our conversation, as I was saying thank you. She hung up on me, extremely rude. It’s a shame… hopefully no one else has to deal with her negative energies this morning.

Our jury is still out. We are not clients, yet contacting them about delinquent recipients is all but useless. Why aren’t participants monitored for progress, following rules, damages, etc. when so many others need help and from comments are not benefitting from the millions in public funds and donations given to this organization?

Entered the building the person at the desk turned sideways and drank out of her water bottle ignored me before she asked what I was there for explained my situation but she didn't seem to care gave me some misinformation found out different if your agency claims your here to help than do it

Every time I go here they assign me to this man who literally doesn't understand his job. I needed help with housing once and a utility bill the other time. "Um no we don't do that here." My understanding is it's in your mission statement & on your website. Completely frustrating to say the least. Honestly.

Haven't worked with them but I love that they have a donation fridge in the parking lot! My wife and I just restocked it a few days ago and try to do so atleast once a month.
