I was sort of disappointed that the office didn't have a better handle on how the insurance handles this type of situation with major companies like BCBS shield, and I couldn't get a coverage amount. If I go in for a scheduled hernia operation. I don't have to pay for it up front. It gets handled by the insurance. The insurance pays their portion and I pay the balance. That doesn't seem to be how it works with this organization. The idea of me having to pay for all this almost four thousand dollars up front with no guarantee of coverage, makes me a bit trepidacious.
