Rudest office I have dealt with. The person who answered the phone did not identify herself (probably because of the way she talks to people). Cut me off when I said why I was calling. Said I had to do everything in writing and was not able to tell me my child's place on the wait list. I said it would have been nice if all of this was communicated to parents in the acceptance letters they send out and her answer was I will take note. At this point I was irritated and said I am sure you will and she said mmhmmm and hung up the phone.
RUSD constantly drops the ball on stuff. One of the worst school districts I’ve ever dealt with. They can’t even make a decision about weather and inform parents in a timely manner. Yesterday (Sunday) the social media person for RUSD was on the RUSD FB page joking about the weather, saying they would let parents know on Monday what was going on. We got NO Update until 650 am when the social media person got back on with jokes. RUSD leave parents in the lurch every time we have snow that could affect traveling or schools opening. We always get late decisions. We have work, and arrangements o make if school is closed. RUSD you need to do better in every aspect!
If you're going to close schools and force kids to local ones that aren't looked after then you don't need my tax dollars. Nor my children working their butts off and being great students and actually being one of only a handful per class that actually care about learning. I have given it my all to try and give it time but speaking on Jerstad which is where I had to send my children. The teachers that I've met and staff alike are wonderful people and I believe most of them give their all to the school. But I also know that it is not up to them for certain things i.e. more than likely expenses. With that being said, if you are not going to help these schools not just look good from the outside and have a good staff, if their having to have a metal detector for everyone to go through in the morning find the funding out of your pockets if you have to, and add at least 2 for each school. 1 for middle school and another for elementary. You are doing a terrible job at looking out for the children you clearly care about lining your pockets and not what's in the best interest of our children I think I can speak for ALOT of parents when I say we want more accountability from the people making the decisions for these schools. You are not who we need in the positions you have.
If I could give 0, I would also. My daughter is high functioning autistic child that is verbal but has memory retention and a horrible working memory. She doesn’t know her days of the week has trouble getting around the school and suffers in the regular education setting because she can’t keep up. But that’s where they placed her. All the responsibilities are put on her special education caseworker who is one person but not on the individual teachers. I will be transferring her asap out of district
I have dealt with Racine unified for years and in my opinion a school district can’t be much worse than this. There’s NO communication. I can’t count how many times I have attempted to get ahold of them, I’ve left several messages and not a single call back. They need to replace everyone in the office and find people who genuinely are here for the education of our children..
I wish i can do 0 stars. I have 4 kids in the RUSD system. Apparently they dont ever know what im even talking about, my 3yr old was almost put into a 3k "school" that he got abused at, and have a whole police investigation on- oh and i reported to rusd. But i had to come in to the point of annoying them, and find our he needed to be transferred to a diffrent 3k that i didnt ever want. And they placed him at the place they abused him at!!!!! And i had to fix!!! And on to of it all, my 3 big kids, bussing got all messed up. Because of these people. NOTHING BUT HEADACKES!! These people dont know what they are talking about, i call transportation, and they tell me to get ahold of enrollment and then they tell me no i need to get ahold of someone else. Just go around in circles.
They took my daughter out of her school & placed her in another one that is JUST under 2 miles(which is a 40 min walk)so she doesn’t automatically qualify for transportation. They expect my 7 year old to walk 40 mins in rain, sleet, & snow. They lost my form for optional transportation & by the time they found it & processed it they told me the only bus in our area was full. Their only suggestion was that I have my child carpool, with strangers, in the middle of a pandemic! After inconveniencing the families in my area over & over they are little to no help at all and weren’t considerate enough to find solutions for families due to the inconveniences that RUSD has created for those families.
