Tiny selection…there’s floorspace to do better but books laid out flat which is so confusing. Not really sure what they’re going for with this bookstore.
Favorite local spot for a birthday card or to browse books! They have a small but cozy children’s podium with a ton of options (& jellycats!). I pop in every time I pass it just to see what new finds they have! They are always welcoming and chill here.
Stopped in the 8th Avenue location. The only salesperson slouched at a desk and stared at his laptop while grunting responses to my questions. You can certainly find a better place to shop than this
Sweet little bookstore that carries a really nice selection of children's books and gifts and then some nice books for adults here. Everything they offer is well curated too. Plus they have a small stock of cards, stationery, coloring books and home decorations.
I’m a nanny in the neighborhood and love Powerhouse. It’s a great place to grab a quick gift and the children’s section is wonderful. I’ve always had wonderful experiences with the staff, including my visit today. I’m leaving this review and giving only 4 stars instead of 5 because I never want to enter a book store to the sound of aggressive screamo rock music blasting. And when I say blasting I mean blasting. It was honestly hard for me to even concentrate on finding what I needed, the music was so loud and aggressive. I would have left and gone somewhere else if I had the time.
well this was a terrible small bookstore experience. i liked the selection of books but the staff was curt and uninviting. left a bad taste in my mouth and i almost returned my books (but i didn’t even get a receipt!) to spend my money elsewhere. won’t be returning. support terrace books instead, dare i even say barnes and noble for better customer service.
It's a small, local bookstore but one that can be better described as more of a long hallway sparsely lined with bookshelves rather than a bookshop as such. Emphasis on the small: the selection has some interesting items, but there's really nothing interesting, and not much to see overall. The children's section, on the other hand, is a good fifth of the store and has a great, varied selection. There are a lot of parents in the neighborhood (or visitors looking for gifts) who would be happy with these, but there's not that much for adults. It's still worth popping in and taking a look. The staff working is pleasant and helpful.
