Fun quick getaway with our kids who were 9,11,14,15. We knew hotel was under reservation when we called so were ok with it. Pool is small but fun. I liked that the hottub was 16 and over so adults could enjoy. Its raised in center of pool so you can still see your kiddos. We got adjacent rooms with 2 beds in each. Very comfy rooms and clean. When we got here we got a free goodie bag with snacks for each room. Business office was set up with kids snacks an drinks. Very considerate. Does smell like pain and lot is packed as they are renovating so sauna and restaurant aren't open. Pool water was perfect temp and so was jacuzzi. A nice quick getaway close to restaurants and dunkin!
The staff were very pleasant!! The rooms were clean, beds very comfortable. Although we got a call the day we were arriving to let us know the rm we booked was unavailable! I had booked a suit. We ended up with a regular king rm. disappointing!!! The big problem in our room was the door to a joining room was NOT soundproof. We could hear everything like they were in our room. The pool was ICE COLD, the hot tub was broken, the sauna was broken and no pool towels available for guests! This hotel was bought from previous owner in June! Would not recommend staying here until all renovations are completed! Great location to downtown Plymouth.
The room itself was nice and newly renovated, but I was disappointed in how down-market the amenities were. The pool area was cold, the pool towels were comically small and thin (the size of hand towels), the hot tub is in the middle of the children's pool. There are no robes available. Provided toiletries are small and cheap. Perhaps I didn't do enough research, but I cannot recommend this hotel for a ladies weekend or spa getaway. There is no onsite bar or lounge. It was not a plush experience. However the staff was very sweet, and doing what they can with what they have.
Check-in was fast and easy. The woman at check-in was very friendly and efficient and answered all our questions. Rooms were clean, maybe had been updated during renovation within the last 6 months. Closet / storage area was big enough to hang our clothes and store our shoes and boots. Bathroom was clean, roomy and loved the mirror across the wall with extra counter space. Could have used a liner with the shower curtain so that water would not get on the floor during showering. Nice big towels. Hair dryer provided. Beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. Refrigerator in the room, but not a small microwave. Keurig coffee pot with Keurig pods. Only complaint was when I realized there were no mirrors in the room. So when bathroom was occupied, could not do makeup or hair without a mirror. Did not her roust children or people talking in the hallways from our room, which we appreciated. Other than missing a mirror in the room, everything was excellent. We also used the pool and hot tub, which was the reason for choosing this hotel. Unfortunately our first visit to the hot tub, the hot tub was cold. A day later they had fixed the heating element, wasn’t as hot as I prefer, but was usable. Kids were enjoying the slide and pool, which in my opinion could have been a bit warmer, but everybody else didn’t seem to mind the temp. All in all we really enjoyed our stay. From what we learned while in Plymouth, this hotel has recently changed hands, and we could see how things have improved with their renovations. ||As for the spa - hotel staff could not answer any questions about the spa and we never stopped in to ask about their services. ||We did go in the attached restaurant, CJ’s, and had drinks and an appetizer. When we asked the hotel staff about the restaurant, they had no info except for hours. We did enjoy the staff in the bar area and service was great. Prices for meals seem comparable to other restaurants in Plymouth and the food looked good. We love that there was a restaurant attached - especially the night it was pouring rain and we did not want to go out. Each morning we did go to the restaurant to get coffee to take to our room, had good strong coffee.
Nice hotel for a mid week trip to see historical Plymouth. We booked one of the newly renovated rooms and it was very clean and nice, our only complaint in the room is the sliding bathroom door was fairly dangerous for kids and there is no microwave. The pool area is perfect for young kids, and the arcade was a nice addition to keep everyone busy. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Free coffee and tea in the lobby would be a great addition to this hotel as your only option is to drive somewhere or use the cheapy in room machine.
Perfect little local getaway during Feb Break! The pool was great. Just wish the fitness center and restaurant weren't being renovated at the time. Next time!
I had significant dissatisfaction with my recent stay at the John Carver Inn during my birthday on November 11, which coincided with a national holiday. We arrived on November 10, beginning our visit with a relaxing experience at the spa, where Olivia and Tanya were fantastic. However, our enjoyment quickly turned to disappointment. Following our spa treatments, we intended to explore the area and have lunch without plans to leave the vicinity. At check-out, we encountered issues regarding a deposit for our room. I was not made aware that a cash or deposit hold was not taken prior as everything was paid for spa and hotel , as both Apple Pay and cash were not accepted. Despite having credit cards available to return the deposit back onto, this situation was inconvenient and felt unfair, particularly as we were already providing a $100 cash payment. After relaxing at the spa, I had to drive to Kingston, Massachusetts, to withdraw cash to cover the deposit on a physical card? This was frustrating, detracting from what should have been a seamless celebration. After returning to the inn and reuniting with my family for the party, I was met with further disappointments. The pool area was poorly lit and not inviting. Although the arcade was enjoyable, the pool was uncomfortably cold, leading to numerous complaints from guests who opted not to swim. Additionally, the hot tub was scarcely warm. I called the front desk for assistance but received a nonchalant response, with no follow-up on the matter or acknowledgment of our concerns. Noteworthy was an encounter with the maintenance man. While he appeared professional initially, my discomfort grew when he lingered near a hot tub with three teenage girls. His behavior struck me as inappropriate, and gave creep vibes. As I sought refreshments, I was frustrated to find that the vending machines only accepted dollar bills, making it impossible to purchase anything without a supply of ones. This led me back to the front desk, where I found the same maintenance man joking with the front desk staff. I was not there to complain or talk . But he asked about the pool ?When I shared my concerns about the pool, he made light of the situation with unhelpful comments, which only added to my disappointment. Also, The front desk was able to accept cash for the treats I bought? Why couldn't they have done me a solid for the deposit mess up and take my hundred dollars I would've been the one more at an inconvenience than them. When I returned to my room, I faced another issue: the cable box malfunctioning. I called the front desk for assistance but received instructions that required climbing to reach the equipment. After struggling to resolve the issue, I found it unnecessary to bother them again. Also, no more tv ??? A room with kids and no tv. Front desk acted like I was being over the top getting annoyed with having to reset and fix my cable??? And climb up to reach the 8 foot high box with no ladder ? No apologies, nothing ....... To top it off, I was woken the following morning by a call from the front desk inquiring if I had called, which I hadn’t. This only added to my frustration with an already disappointing stay. While I appreciate the professionalism of the front desk staff, by staying calm the overall experience felt uncoordinated and lacking in hospitality. I believe it is essential for guests to be informed about potential issues, especially during special occasions. There was a happy birthday AD on your TV and it was a holiday so allowing guests in November to be subjected to 76degrrees is RUDE AND TAKING ADVANTAGE! Poole in FLA are heated . The maintenance man said to me "it's a cold plunge you get used to it." Yeah, if you go to a lake house or a pond your anticipating ithat not when you're staying inside you expect them to set the place up to be comfortable and inviting!
