Celebrating my one-year anniversary with Portal Sauna today and couldn’t be happier. 🎉 I’ve been going almost every day this past year, and it’s become a core part of my routine. They’ve made noticeable improvements to heat retention, making sessions even better and more consistent. The space feels dialed in and thoughtfully maintained. What really keeps me coming back is the community and the staff. I look forward to winding down with friends and familiar faces. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a consistent, high-quality community sauna experience. Hot or cold outside, Portal is always a highlight of my day.

I recently visited Portal Thermaculture in Denver and spent time in both of their saunas. Overall, I enjoyed the experience — the facilities are clean, well-maintained, and the attention to detail in aesthetics and comfort is apparent. I appreciated the opportunity to experience a wood-fired style sauna environment, even if the current units are electric retrofits. That said, I noticed a few aspects that affected the sauna experience. In the first sauna, the temperature felt lukewarm despite a 15–20 minute session, and the sloped ceilings appeared to direct hot air away from the upper benches, which reduced the enveloping heat and löyly. The second sauna was warmer and had slightly better löyly, but the ceiling slope along the benches still limited the heat distribution. I also observed that in the contrast therapy style setup, frequent door openings and wet clothing introduced cooler air and extra moisture, which further reduced the effectiveness of the sauna heat. While this approach works for the intended audience, it was clear that for someone focused purely on the traditional Finnish sauna experience, the thermal stratification and circulation could be improved. These are relatively minor design points, and they don’t detract from the overall quality of the facility. Portal clearly prioritizes user comfort, cleanliness, and accessibility, and I would recommend the experience to others. My hope is that sharing this feedback can help highlight small design tweaks that might make the sauna experience even more immersive, particularly for guests seeking a classic Finnish-style experience.

This place truly rocks. The location is great and the vibe is always on point, but it's the people who work here that make it so special. Everyone is incredibly friendly and genuinely attentive to the overall experience. Bennett is constantly working hard to keep everything running smoothly and looking sharp. I recently had an issue with my membership, and Anneka from their customer service team went above and beyond to make sure my account was in perfect standing. The vibe is amazing, and the people who work at Portal make it even better.

Overall great sauna/cold plunge experience. The facility was clean and the people were friendly. I went when it was fully booked and was largely able to time cold plunges to avoid waiting, though I did notice a couple people who weren’t so lucky or needed to share the tubs. My only recommendation is to reconsider the amount of incense and essential oils used. As someone who is sensitive to smell, I was often a bit overwhelmed, especially in the changing rooms that are minimally ventilated and just collect the smoke. Perhaps have one sauna with and one without essential oils and same with change rooms?

Wow one of the greatest experiences ever.. the staff is the greatest and so caring.. they are very thorough with the instructions and make sure everyone is ok… definitely a chill place to meet new people and just hang out… the cold plunges are best around and maintains the cold temp set and sauna is very hot and one which step down from it… If you are traveling through or in the area you MUST check it out.. one of the best places I been to in a while and the price is so reasonable based on what you get… top notch place…

Very friendly and great community. Sauna is awesome! My skin became so nourished and toned after the visit, plus a smell of fresh sauna wood!! Love this place, will definitely come ❤ again!

I’m lucky enough to have this place right behind my work, and I cannot wait to add it to my routine. The facilities are stunning and extremely well-kept, and the staff is so friendly and helpful. The community that Portal has created both in Boulder and Denver is amazing, can’t wait to go back!!
