Customer Reviews
Gen Korean BBQ House has a rating of 4.1 out of 5 based on over 1136 reviews on Google
Food is good, but the service is very slow. Heard they are short-staffed, so customers better order more each time in case you won’t be able to find a waiter for a while—our waitress is nice though! Additionally, there are only five rice sticks for a dish so it’s kind of funny, but it does taste good!
Not sure how this place gets 4.1 stars. From start to finish, it was the most disappointing Korean BBQ I’ve had. Banchan was minimal and flavorless. The kimchi was bitter, maybe over aged? There was no fish cake, which seems like a staple banchan. Sundubu jjigae tasted like minestrone, very tomato-y with firm tofu, japchae was plain glass noodles with raw-tasting vegetables. The Korean fried chicken seemed like it was from the freezer with sauce drizzled on. Even the kimchi fried rice was a flop. The meat was no better. Beef bulgogi was thick and chewy, samgyupsal came as one thick unscored slab. Apparently you have to pay $20 extra per person for the cuts other places serve as standard. Poor quality, bland flavors, and not worth the price.
The long bone beef rib and pickled cucumbers were delicious. I also like the Cajun shrimp. We ordered Chamisul soju and was brought the JJIN brand. We reminded the server that we asked for a specific soju and told us they ran out. We looked past it. Not sure of the exhaust systems in the restaurant but the smoke from the tables were a little overwhelming getting into my hair and clothes. I believe the windows were open and were blowing air towards a certain side of the restaurant which made the experience a bit displeasing. Menu is very misleading with prices. Overall experience was subpar. Will not return. Pretty upset about the explanation of prices and menu set up.**** ***I would have just appreciated a clear written and verbal communication of a set price on meal. We asked repeatedly if it was $20.99 per person (we obviously were not clearly understanding it was actually $30.99 all day plus $20 per person) because we were shocked about how cheap it was. The server rushed and was like "yea yea yea yea all the protein you want until you’re full". I don’t think consumers would have an issue with paying $50 for the experience. Just be clear. No need for corporate tricks.
Christian was an amazing waiter. He gave us great recommendations and helped us pick our food fast. He stayed talkative and kept the vibe fun the whole time. He checked on us a lot and made sure we had what we needed. Super nice, easy to talk to, and made the meal better. Ask for Christian if you come here.
Guy at the front was so rude and unpleasant. We walked right in and he greeted and helped the people BEHIND us. After that I expected him to help us and he was going to help the people that was also behind us! I said excuse me, we were next and he just rolled his eyes and told us there was a 40 min wait. Mind you we literally just walked in. Made that really easy to decide it wasn't worth the wait and get the hell out of there. Great service🙄🙄
This place was interesting, I let my daughter cook, she enjoyed they a lot. I wish there were more vegetables to offer, when you order the veggie only dish. I got like 4 things.
I enjoyed the food and the service. The waiter was always ready for the next order. Busy most of the time but no wait to be seated. Came to celebrate my son’s birthday. First time ordering by our selves. With the recommendation of our server the food was delicious and the choices very flavorful. Highly recommend.
