UMI Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar

Umi’s is always hoppin. They have a fun, college-town vibe with a lot of seating. If you come on a Friday or Saturday- be prepared for a 1-2 hour wait. We ordered crab puffs for an appetizer, they were really good. We all ordered the chicken and ny strip hibachi…super tasty!! Not sure what was going on with our server, but we did feel a bit neglected. Ok, A LOT neglected….but the food made up for it! We’ve had the sushi before and it’s probably the best I’ve had in Manhattan. Would definitely recommend it, the food is really good.

I had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — every bite was flavorful. The chef did an amazing job, and you can really taste the quality in the dishes. Our waitress was just as impressive. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel very welcome the entire time. The service and the food together made this visit stand out. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal and excellent service!

Sat at the bar this time and ordered to go. Had a few drinks. I had the Long Island iced tea. Was very evenly dispersed and flavorful. The bar was very clean and the seat were so comfortable.

Our cook was amazing. We are military and have been to a few duty stations and have never had anyone interacted with the table as much as the gentleman today. The filet I ordered was cooked perfect, the veggies delicious. The shrimp catch was extra entertaining. Having one of the guys act like he was on a field to catch it was pretty epic. Thank you for the great time today. We will be back.

One of the best restaurants in Manhattan! It is our #1 go to restaurants if my husband and I want to go out for dinner. We have tried few different rolls, sashimi and donburi, and all of them were great with very reasonable price. Highly recommend!! 🍣🍱

This restaurant is my absolute favorite place to eat! I always feel so welcomed and loved when I enter! The servers are amazing as well (jimmy and Stacy are my favorite)🫶🏼 100/10 recommend

The food was excellent. The table service was outstanding. It is a tribute to say that after a 40 minute wait, the service and speed of food arrival for a table of 7, as well as quality of food, left the wait as an issue we never mentioned once. Our server kept the drinks full and got them all correct with every refill.
