While we were visiting New Orleans, I asked our daughter and her husband to take us someplace we hadn’t been before. They suggested Little Chinatown, as the food was excellent. They were right. The place is right off the main avenue in Kenner, easy to get to. Parking was adequate, there was plenty of seating, and friendly staff seated us, took our order and brought out our food quickly. Appetizers we got were the pot stickers and Edamame. The deep fried pot stickers were just right. My wife may have finished off the Edamame herself; I never got one, but she said they were perfect. I had the Sesame chicken, my wife had the General Tso Chicken. We did some sharing across plates. The sesame chicken was covered in a sweet honey sauce, liberally sprinkled with sesame. The General Tso chicken was expected to have some heat to it. Most pieces on the generous portion had only a hint, but those deeper in had some bite. Both dishes were fabulous, and we left stuffed and happy.
Food is consistently great there. The lettuce wrap and the fried wontons were awesome. The salt and pepper pork chops are delicious. The sweet-and-sour dish is very tasty. The servers are generally great too. There are awesome lunch deals with soup and spring roll. The restaurant building is not the most attractive, but the food is delicious and that’s what is important.
This experience was unacceptable. I ordered wontons, but they were served undercooked, and the meat inside was still raw. Unfortunately, I gave this food to my child, and only after the second bite did I realize that the meat was not cooked at all. When I informed the staff, they gave a very insincere apology, as if they just wanted to end the situation quickly. The service was careless and irresponsible, especially when it comes to food safety. I will never return to this restaurant again.
Tonight was my first time coming to this restaurant. It's a quaint little place off of Williams boulevard. I went to several threads on Reddit and all of them highly recommended the food. I'm happy to report that they were absolutely correct. The young lady who took my order was very friendly. She said she had worked there for 4 years and made a you really good recommendations. I decided to go with the black and short rib clay pot. I was not disappointed. Large portions. Very healthy. I had enough to bring home and eat again later this weekend. Prices were incredibly reasonable for what you get. The busboy and other servers were all so very polite and helpful. They checked on me several times without being overbearing. I have a master's degree in hospitality and tourism management. My focus was food and beverage, specifically restaurants. I can say with certainty that this place is run well. They checked all of the boxes. I will definitely be back especially to try their lunch specials. Highly recommend. Update... came back for lunch today and absolutely did not disappoint. Delicious food for a very reasonable price. Top Notch service. Highly recommend.
We are regular customers and have always enjoyed coming here, which is why today’s experience was so disappointing. This is open seating, so we sat ourselves and waited a few minutes for menus, which was not an issue. A server came by, took our drink order, and things initially seemed fine. However, our food order was entered incorrectly. We were understanding about the mistake, but then my wife waited an additional 20 minutes for her meal while the rest of us were already eating. When it finally arrived, it was incorrect again and clearly rushed—chewy, undercooked chicken with no sauce, and edamame that was extremely hard and inedible. Our server never came back to check on us, so I went to politely bring the issue to the manager’s attention—not to cause a scene, but to give feedback like any customer would. Unfortunately, the interaction with the manager was the most upsetting part. She spoke in a condescending and dismissive tone, repeatedly cut me off, and would not allow me to finish explaining. She made a comment about using white meat because it’s "healthier," which had nothing to do with the food being undercooked and felt dismissive and inappropriate. The forced smile paired with the rude tone made the interaction uncomfortable. We simply wanted acknowledgment and professionalism, not to be spoken to disrespectfully. We have always enjoyed this restaurant, which makes this experience even more disappointing. We hope management takes this feedback seriously. We will not be returning anytime soon.
Prices are too high for the taste. Egg rolls were burn the quality of food is not good. I ask a question and all of a sudden no one speak English. Definitely not customer service friendly.
First, I have to say that the best part of this place was a young man in the front with curly hair that looked exactly like My Son Brandon! Now let’s get to this food. I paid $29 and left a 250 tip for the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had in my life. My pork fried rice did not look nothing like pork fried rice and it was so dark brown. I figured I just got the scraps of what was left over for the night dry and hard as well. Mind you this is coming from a kitchen manager. My general tso’s Chicken was bright light orange Anytime I get it. It’s a dark red and you can see red pepper flakes in it. I don’t know what I got, but it definitely wasn’t that and it definitely was not good. The sauce that I got that was orange in a container, tasted like it had sat in a container for a couple of years The sauce tasted very tainted. Moving onto my teeny tiny egg roll or spring roll was completely frozen on the inside. Just one layer was thawed next to the rapid itself. The eggroll was completely soggy and tasted like it was from a freezer. I am very disappointed that I chose to go out to eat and spend my last just to be completely disappointed and be forced to eat some food that was Completely the opposite of any Chinese place I’ve ever went to! Mind you a majority of my friend or Chinese in Korean so I’ve tasted good Chinese food before that was not pork fried rice I got and that was not General Tso’s chicken! And I’m very disappointed because I went and read the reviews for this place before I even decided to make a purchase! Nice kids that work on the inside though very manageable very nice very kind. Great job on hiring them. Sad part is I would’ve came in for a refund, but the young man reminded me of My Son and he was so nice. I didn’t even want to go back and complain.
