This place serves dishes far tastier than many Michelin-mentioned restaurants in Boston. It is a cute little powerhouse of a restaurant delivering true fine dining quality. I saw the five-star rating before visiting and assumed it might be hype, but I was completely wrong. It is located in a small town about 40 minutes from Boston, and it is absolutely worth the drive. The dishes are not just familiar flavors mixed together. Every ingredient feels carefully considered, thoughtfully composed, and intentionally layered to create something entirely new. As a foodie, nothing brings me more joy than seeing a chef’s creativity and design come together to produce flavors I have never experienced before, and this place delivers exactly that. The elevated Korean flavors are stunning. The sea bass is a must-try, and we also loved the raw beef. For dessert, we had the lemongrass shikhye rice punch sorbet. The portion was generous, which we appreciated, though we were not quite sure what to make of it. It was not bad at all. We just could not clearly taste the shikhye element. Since the restaurant is run by a couple without additional staff, the pacing of service can be a bit slow. However, we found the cozy and intimate atmosphere charming, and they kindly let us use two tables, which we appreciated. We definitely plan to return to try more dishes. I hope they continue to do well and perhaps move to Boston one day.

A friend and I had dinner, the restaurant is modern casual but somewhat elegant. there is seating at the bar or a few tables. the service was great. we had drinks which were nice and we both had the tofu dish, kimchi and shared a dessert. I wish we had tried more of the side dishes because I am curious and it is winter and we wanted more food. The tofu was super delicious as was the cake for dessert. Order a lot of food if you are hungry, because its great and the items are delicate and clean.

Small Korean-inspired bistro serving some of the most thoughtful fusion dishes I’ve had in Massachusetts. Might be my new favorite "Korean" restaurant in the state. No idea how a place like this is all the way out in Haverhill. Chef with experiences at multiple Michelin starred restaurants (most likely Chef de Partie or Entremetier), and the flavor balance in most dishes were impeccable. Chef Gorrell’s approach blended Korean foundations with seasonal, often unconventional vegetables, which resulted in playful juxtaposition between sweet, savory, and acidic notes. The Bibimbap and Kohlrabi salad were epitomes of such style. Vegetable-forward fusion dishes often get lost in complexity, but these were masterfully balanced. Bibimbap was the dish that instantly got me hooked on this place. A medley of pickled vegetables, with an unexpected but brilliant pop from crispy peas. Lotus root, bok choy, and other unconventional veggies made it more dynamic than most bibimbaps and somehow, it all came together without relying on a sauce. The salad had beet miso cream for light umami, natural sweetness from kohlrabi and carrots, subtle saltiness from the house soy, and a nutty finish from pistachios. No flashy "signature" sauce. Again, just clean technique and intentional layering, and one of the best salads I’ve had in recent memory. Other dishes that I really enjoyed were the Honey Garlic Chicken, Green Garlic Mandu, and the Apricot Pit Ice Cream. The chicken had a classic Korean flavor profile: sweet soy glaze with chili flake kick. But the chicken thigh was perfectly cooked. The $29 tofu-based dumplings initially made me hesitant, but the flavors were better than expected. Earthy green garlic dominated, but the arugula purée and crispy onions added sweet and tangy lift and crunch. Suyuk was the least memorable dish of the evening. They likely rolled and tied the pork for uniform texture, but some lean parts were overcooked and packed too tightly, which resulted in dense, slightly dry slices. Still the fennel (sliced fine-dining style) subtly boosted the pork’s umami. Interesting execution, but not fully there. Thankfully, the ice cream was a beautiful closer. Likely salted yogurt ice cream, which gave it a smoother texture and balanced the sweetness with tang and salt. Highly recommend giving them a try. Would make the hour drive again to try their next seasonal menu.

Food was delicious, the portions were perfect. I want to go again to try the other items on the menu. I like that the menu is small and each dish is well made. The staff were friendly and helpful. Drinks were also fabulous. Highly recommend.

What an incredible meal! If you want a fabulous dinner prepared directly by the two owner/chefs then you need to check this place out. It was a wonderful blend of Korean and American tastes with so many ingredients made in house. We had the beet salad, glazed chicken thighs, jjajeongmyun, and pork rib galgijim. It was hard to pick a favorite! Their desserts were also fantastic and unique. A gooey chocolate creme brulee cake and tomato sorbet. So good! I look forward to my next visit.

Damgeuda is a charming small Korean restaurant run by an interesting and warm couple that truly makes you feel at home. As a Korean myself, I grew up eating my mom’s homemade dishes, so I have a good sense of what authentic Korean flavors taste like. While Damgeuda leans more toward a fusion or Americanized style of Korean cuisine—designed to cater to the American palate—I really appreciate their creative twists built from traditional recipes. It’s a unique blend that offers something both familiar and exciting. One of the most impressive features of this restaurant is their homemade soy sauce, displayed proudly on the wall shelf. As someone who still brings homemade soy sauce from South Korea—crafted by my mom and over 50 years old—their soy sauce truly stands out. It’s rich, flavorful, and adds an incredible depth to dishes. Just two drops are enough to elevate the flavor of an entire soup or meal, which speaks to its quality and craftsmanship—nothing you can find in store-bought soy sauce can compare. I’ve brought non-Korean friends here, and they all loved the food—remarking on how delicious and thoughtfully made everything was. It’s clear that Damgeuda is destined to have many loyal customers who appreciate their creative approach and authentic touches. If you’re looking for a cozy spot with great fusion Korean food and an interesting story behind the ingredients, Damgeuda is a must-try. I’ll definitely be returning!

After months and months of trying to find time in our schedule , my wife and I were finally able to make it to Damgeuda . From Front to back everything was absolutely incredible . Every detail was incredibly thoughtful and intentional . We ordered a banchan of Napa kimchi , the sweet potatoes , the chicken thigh , the Mandu , both desserts , both the house spritz and the fermented pineapple and rum cocktail were incredible as well . 11/10 . My only regret is that we ran out of room to eat more ( although my wife insisted that she could have eaten another 3 plates of mandu ) . It’s nice to finally see some growth in the downtown Haverhill food scene , and with a constantly changing menu I’m thinking this will quickly become our regular date night spot . Also incredibly vegan friendly for those of you who do not partake in animal products .
