BBQ Chung Dam | Garden Grove BBQ청담

My husband and I decided to try this Korean AYCE BBQ after watching Rockstar Eater’s YouTube video featuring their LA Koreatown location. After checking their website, we found out that the Garden Grove location is actually the original one, so we decided to visit OC location. Parking was easy, which is always a plus. We visited on a Sunday evening around 7pm. It was busy, but the wait was reasonable and we were seated fairly quickly. This is an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ restaurant where you choose a tier- Diamond ($58.99), Gold ($34.99), Brown ($24.99), or Happy Hour ($19.99). We went with the Gold AYCE. Meats are ordered through the server, while side dishes are self-serve in the lobby area (self bar) . The layout is simple, table spacing is comfortable, and getting sides is very straightforward. Since this is the original location, I naturally came in with slightly higher expectations - partly because of the YouTube recommendation and also from friends who had positive experiences in the past. For us, the meat quality was decent and the selection felt a bit limited, but everything was prepared well and enjoyable. Service was a highlight. The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick to help, which definitely improved the overall experience. Overall, this is a solid AYCE Korean BBQ option in the Garden Grove area. Not too many people there which was great. Server also very good. Spent $80 after tax for 2 adults and one child and def got our servings worth. Food overall was very fresh and server very attentive.

The service and food are good. They sometimes run out of options. We had the middle AYCE option. The marinated choice ribs were great. The side dishes and the other non-marinated options were also good. Recently, I’ve had bad luck with some AYCE meat places where some of the meat would taste or smell bad. The prices are great. This place was good. The main downside is the smokey air as the exhaust system is pretty weak.

One of the best measures of a good restaurant is whether you feel comfortable dining there alone. This place passes that test with flying colors. There's a nice counter facing the open kitchen, so you can watch the chefs work if you want, or you can just stare out the window. The staff checks on you just the right amount—friendly and attentive, but not pushy. I ordered a simple pasta dish and a glass of wine, and it felt like a real treat. It’s my new favorite spot to decompress after a long week.

I came expecting to get great K bbq food we got the gold tier as it’s suppose to be the best and finest meats , the service was great ! Fast food and kind server . Upon receiving our food we cooked it having first hand knowledge on how k-bbq works. Not Overcooking it or leaving it without out seasoning our first portion was really nasty in taste and discomforting , giving the benefit of the doubt we order a second round as we thought that it would be better. We choice the prime sirloin and la ribs along with bulgogi. We cooked half of it and still the same discomforting bitter nasty taste. I talked to a sever and told them we didn’t enjoy the meat and did not want to continue our experience. She told another head server and he was suppose to help mediate the situation. He pretended to call the manager and ended calling the cops saying we didn’t want to pay the bill. He took 3 times to lie to us and say his manager was on his way but the cops ended up coming. They wasted our time and money as well as an evening that was suppose to be an amazing date night I WOULD NEVER RETURN HERE EVER AGAIN !! There’s was no manager or owner to be around but only a server. It’s so unprofessional as a business to not have any type of guest service!! The fact that they called the cops instead of the owner showing up was so disrespectful! DO NOT EVER EAT HERE WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND THEY RUINED OUR NIGHT !

Korean barbeque was good, not great, they have a salad bar that you are able to self serve for all you can eat. Service is a little challenging since I see two people for the whole restaurant, I liked that the quantity is immense, not no little plate and the quality is adequate. Good prices, I would go again for the deals, lunch is better with happy hour specials.

The flavors here are vibrant. Pretty delicious 😋 for reference we got the "silver" $25. The "self serve" bar is pretty great from choices of kimchi, potato salad, garlic noodles, corn with cheese & more. I chose to come here over Mr. BQQ, am I happy with my choice?
