I never crave Tteokbokki but today I suddenly was and it satisfied it! The rice cake (Garae tteok) was the perfect texture and the spice level (#2) was the perfect balance with the Rose flavor! The only thing I was sad about was that we didn’t have a lot of fish cake or sausage and the dumplings only have noodles in them which was similar to the gimmari. However, the vibes and the food quality and flavor were on point!
We wanted to try out this spot as I have been following their Instragram page for the longest time and even got a coupon from them. We arrived and the restaurant was half full of customers sitting and another line of customers that were paying or ordering, which was confusing. Additionally, it was a bit confusing that you can pick your toppings as you wait in line cause if you're a solo diner or have friends then it's weird to do that suddenly at the front of the line. I feel they should have a sign or something that lets you know you can get the toppings separately as I thought we would let them know and they will get but it is self-serve. The inside has a cute, cozy vibe. They have lots of posters on one side while the other wall has a mural. The menu is pretty big and the text is large enough to read from far away. They have several tables and chairs to accommodate different size parties but definitely more towards 2 or 4 seaters. There isn't much service as you get your plates, utensils and napkins after ordering and then they bring you your order then you never see them again. The lady at the front had some trouble as she took like almost ten minutes trying to figure out some orders? But our food arrived not too long after we placed it and it was pretty delicious. The jjajang sauce was savory and everything was cooked to perfection. The garae-tteok was really good and massive! The texture was pretty good. The prices are kinda on the higher side for what you get but the portion is definitely more for two or more people. I did want to order from their side menu but other reviewers seemed pretty disappointed with their sides so I opted not to.
DELICIOUS! One order is perhaps good enough for 2 to 3 people. Two stars was my threshold for spiciness. For the rest of you chickens, go for one star or possibly none which is probably impossible foe this dish. It is $2.99 too add cheese. Additional toppings such as fish cakes, ramen, veggies are 3.95 per lb. Try the little peppercorns. They have an interesting effect on your tongue.
Staff was very sweet and thoughtful! We got spice level 2 grandma tteokbokki with garaetteok. The tteokbokki sauce is pretty savory, umami rather than sweet. I do wish there was more sauce though.
I have to say, the Rose tteokbokki here is the best! It's not too spicy, but has a delicious, creamy flavor that's perfectly balanced. I highly recommend adding sausage as a topping when you order it. It's a dish I want to eat every day! Try it right now!!!
I checked out this new place but it was below my expectations. The shrimp tempura was excellent, but the squid tempura was so bad I couldn’t finish it. There was no wait to get in, but the food took quite a while after ordering. The ‘mayak gimbap’ was just okay, and I was shocked at how overpriced everything was. The tteokbokki was just mediocre service was ok
I had a wonderful experience at Halfatteok Korean Rice Cake! I ordered the rose rice cakes and they were absolutely amazing. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and every bite was delicious. Highly recommend trying them if you get the chance!
