for context i love this restaurant and i’ve been here countless of times. it is one of my favorite korean restaurants that i recommend to my friends, but after my experience i will not be coming back. i went in to eat with my family and the food was great. my aunt is visiting from australia, so i wanted to bring her to a place i knew the food wouldn’t disappoint. she wanted to pay for the bill after our meal, so she gets up and pays. mind you, tipping culture is not big thing in australia. after she pays, she has extra change left over and she leaves it in the tip jar. we leave and say thank you, but as we get into my car, this lady that i noticed behind in the kitchen is yelling at us from outside my car. she followed us out because we didn’t "tip" on a $90 bill. me not understanding what she was trying to say at first sent my aunt back into the restaurant where she got yelled at for not tipping the servers. my aunt left a $20 bill afterwards to avoid more complications. i’ve never seen anyone chase someone out of the restaurant for a tip. i understand the servers are paid little and majority of their cash out is from tips, but never have i been chased after for a better tip. the servers were great, but whoever that lady was that wasn’t my server by the way was not great. on top of that, she embarrassed my aunt in front of other people in the restaurant.
I paid 25$ for this undercooked Pork Cutlet. In this economy this is unacceptable. Is the inside supposed to be pink? I had two bites before I realized I could not finish the meal.
A-Hyang has been around for a long time, but unfortunately, the interior shows significant wear and tear and appears to have never been updated. There were noticeable damages throughout the restaurant, which took away from the overall dining experience. The food had some potential but didn’t stand out. It was average and not particularly memorable. The staff seemed to be doing their jobs, but they weren’t especially friendly or welcoming. Overall, I don’t think I’ll be returning
I absolutely love this place. The family that owns it has made me feel welcome from the first night I stumbled upon it. There are a lot of Korean restaurants in Duluth, but this is by far my favorite. I can tell they put a lot of love into their food and it shows. When I need some "Seoul" food, this is where I come to get it.
No air conditioning and the majority of the food is hot soup. Very little explanation on dishes on the menu. I ordered Beef with flour noodles and it was soup! It had 3 small ( the size of a quarter ) pieces of "beef" in it for 17.99$ The saving grace to our meal was the fried dumplings which were edible.
You get an insanely large portion of food for the price. This place deserves a 5/5 for that alone. The food itself is of course tasty and it comes out pretty quickly. The bone broth they serve at the beginning is also very welcome and a great appetizer for the entrees.
The pork cutlet was delicious and perfectly fried and crispy. They also serve a soup and side dishes at the beginning. The bibimbap was okay but the pork cutlet was the reason we came and it did not disappoint.
