Tokyo Garden

Parking is tough in their lot and harder in the street, it’s a small place and expected to enter from a fire exit door in the rear. They have a perfect front door facing the main street. It’s busy so the wait could be long to eat even at the bar. The food was bad and understand why as the staff making the food are drinking during work hours. I’m surprised owner and county officials are not aware. Don’t waste your time here. The staff doesn’t take their craft seriously and you pay in a bad meal. I sat at the bar and this guys beer is in plan sight.

Food is always delicious here😋 Unfortunately, this time we were seated next to a large family table. Kids were screaming and crying and soup was splattered which reached our table😕 Seated too close to their table.

The service was ok, could’ve been better. I ordered a margarita with no salt on the rim and when it came out not only did it have salt on the rim, but the drink itself tasted salty. The food came out pretty quickly and was delicious…up until I got to the 2nd to last roll and there was a hair inside of it. I didn’t notice it until I had the roll in my moth and I was thinking like, "oh that’s a strange piece of seaweed," but no, I looked down and it was a hair inside the roll I was eating. Not exactly the way I wanted to find out, but yeah, that really turned the experience around for me. I know it’s not mine because I have long curly hair and this is a shorter and straight blonde or gray hair. Anyway, I didn’t eat the last roll, obviously. I told the waiter and he voided the roll for us, which I appreciated. Still, I don’t think my family and I will be coming back anytime soon. It’s unfortunate because I had high hopes for their establishment after that whole debacle last year with the restaurant being closed by the health inspector, I really thought they turned a new leaf, you know? Maybe it’s just a one time incident (I hope it is!) but it just doesn’t look good. To the restaurant: please take caution around food and take food service and sanitation seriously. People are trusting you with the food and to keep it safe.

Great customer service and the sushi is soo good!! I did have to return a miso soup once because it tasted a bit too strong. Waiter apologized and gave me an appetizer on the house

Good place however this restaurant is not a fie star place it’s kind of a working class restaurant. But the rolls were good and reasonably priced

The service can be a hit or a miss idk if it’s just me but there are times where I felt the young men (servers) were being arrogant or ignorant. The SUSHI ROLLS ARE FIRE DOE! They’ve only ran out of soju once but they have hot sake as well! Their sushemi is great as well! This is my primary go to sushi spot when I’m craving it! They also give edamame as an appetizer!

Came in to celebrate our anniversary & not only was the food AMAZING, our servers were so sweet and knowledgeable! Shout out to Yunji and Justin and the chefs for being so attentive and making our special day that much more enjoyable! Absolutely love everything that comes with Tokyo Garden Downey ♥️
