Customer Reviews
Tiger Box has a rating of 4.7 out of 5 based on over 175 reviews on Google
Sai, the owner, is genteel, endearing and attentive to all of her customers. I met her and had a charming conversation about the neighborhood and events happening. Truly a great person. She's had this business for 9 years and deserves more support. If you loved the experience please take 5-10 minutes and post a review. We have to support our small businesses. Regarding my experience, I ordered the popcorn chicken, Kimchi fried fried and Chicken fried rice. The flavors were zesty and robust and not overpowering. The portions are big. And Im 6'4" 250 lbs and a single bowl was enough to put me to sleep (technically called post-prandial somnabulism). All of the ingredients are fresh and the prices are surprisingly decent. The restaurant is clean and cozy. It wasn't busy when I came but I can see how it can get busy. Overall a great Korean restaurant and one of the very few in the area. And even fewer offerring great quality and excellent service. Its mad cool. Thanks Sai. Ill be coming back for more.
Very tasty chicken bibimbap! Fresh vegetables, juicy chicken, and a perfectly balanced flavor. The portion is filling and nicely presented.
Tiger Box is a bright spot in a part of town that doesn't have many restaurants. Korean food in particular can be hard to find, but Tiger Box is my new favorite for sure. I had the sundubu jjigae, a perfectly spicy stew of tofu and pork. Sai the owner clearly knows what she is doing. I haven't had a jjigae that good since I lived in LA's Koreatown.
So excited and happy to find an amazing Korean spot for take out. We walked to pick up, and our order was hot and ready to go. Even by the time we got home with our food, (a good 10-15 mins) everything was still fresh and ready as if we just got it. Definitely our new go-to!! Oh, and the wings are definitely something to write home about, and the Veggie Bibimbap is the best.
There’s that saying about some restaurants, "a hole in the wall", right? That’s usually referring to the appearance of the restaurant, which rarely plays a part in the experience and the food itself (based on my experience, anyway). Tiger Box is totally a hole in the wall. It’s small, not fancy at all, not a bunch of hype and frills, but the experience….man, the experience. I arrived to be welcomed by the owner, Sy (spellcheck, please). She.is.phenomenal. We chatted for a bit before I ordered. There’s no seating inside, so I went outside to sit and wait for my food. I had no idea what I was in store for. I tried several different dishes. The spicy pork bowl being one of them. Rice and pork, marinated in gochujang, ginger and other flavorful components, really got me in my feelings almost instantly. You taste the warmth, and the experience, and the love right away. I also tried the kimchi jjigae, which is a hot stew with kimchi, pork, onions, green onions, rice, and more. I’d say this was one of the most special dishes. The kimchi soaking in that stew, the tofu absorbing all of those flavors….ugh. Cooking is an art. This was cooking from a deeply rooted cultural background. The history was in every bite. I also tried the spicy pork ssam wraps, which were delightful. More of that yummy spicy pork, but with the freshness of the lettuce. Such a bright, Spring-y dish! The seafood scallion pancakes were one of my faves! Savory pancakes, packed with flavor, and seafood! I also tried the steamed meat kimchi mandu, which appear as dumplings, but owner Sy says, "no, it’s mandu". And listen, I wasn’t about to argue with her! She KNOWS, ok?! The mandu was divine. They were stuffed with kimchi and pork. After speaking with Sy, I have so much more of an appreciation for kimchi. She says the process is tedious, that it takes time. The more steps you add to your kimchi, the better it tastes. The more flavor you develop. She says it’s a lot of work, but that she doesn’t regret it. The kimchi is a top seller because it’s served in so many dishes. Sy is special. She really does love running Tiger Box. That is inspiring and you can taste her love in the food. This is homestyle authentic Korean cuisine, and I am still blown away by it all. I cannot wait to get back! Please, please do yourself a favor and visit Tiger Box in Brooklyn.
Cozy little spot for authentic Korean food! Food is great and you can tell it was made with care. We ordered the Army Stew and Bulgogi Rice, both were 10/10!
The lady there is so nice and attentive!! She always has a smile and checks in on you. It feels very like home here. The food is the best part, affordable and freshly made!!!! I come here so often now 😊😊
