UMAMI BBQ (#1 Vietnamese BBQ & Hot pot in Alaska)

What a pleasant surprise! I had no idea how fun this was, and very cool atmosphere, without being wildly loud and feeling invaded. Top quality food - we tried a BBQ plate for 2 and a stone pot soup and both were amazing, and we have tons of left overs! The robot was a nice touch also - how cool!

We went around 6pm and it was fairly busy but they were able to seat us almost immediately. (Party of 2) The servers are very efficient. Food and drink comes out quickly. They also have robot servers that deliver drinks to the tables. The food overall is good and competitively priced with other similar restaurants in the area. I got the Pork belly and the ribeye fried rice (has pineapple, so be careful if you have allergies.) The portion sizes are large. A bit pricey, but highly recommended. My husband ordered the crispy cheese rolls and octopus and marinated brisket from the bbq menu. The server cuts up the meat for you but did not offer to grill it, which is fine for us, but may not be for you. It came with a variety of side dishes and rice.

This place has the cutest atmosphere and even has a robot cat that serves you drinks! The food was delicious. The jasmine tea was so Good! Definitely give the place a try!

First time here with my husband and 4 year old. Very welcoming walking in, and the place is beautiful. Multiple staff came by to help with drinks, orders, and refilling lemon water. The fried rice taste exactly like Benihana fried rice but better and has pineapples. We got the sizzling beef bowl, my son got the shrimp and fries. Everything tasted amazing. We were full off of just our bowls and had to take the rest home. Will be back for the grill and soup.

Decided to give this place a try for the all you can eat bbq. We sat down and were immediately told the price was an additional $7 pp because it was a holiday....we should have left then. The food was disappointing. The meat was extremely thin and flavorless. The traditional sides were bland and few. Even the sticky bun was disappointing. The only thing that was good was their green sauce. We won't be back.

Love the food and the service. The robot kitty delivering the drinks was a fabulous touch. Come hungry.

Great Vietnamese BBQ & hot pot with fresh ingredients and excellent flavors. Friendly service and a clean, modern atmosphere. One of the best dining experiences in Alaska — highly recommend!
