Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library

Huge and beautiful library in Topeka. As soon as you walk into foyer. All you can do is smile. You are greeted with different artifacts. The information kiosk is right there. It's all well put together. Most libraries you can get lost. Not here it's beautifully and tastefully done.

I only went for the book sale. I did get several books. Some I read long ago. Some I haven't read yet. The people were very friendly and the woman who helped us with the specialty books in the back of the room was just sweet as can be.

Great place! I was waiting on family at the nearby hospital. This was a great place to hang out. There is a Cafe and store. The art exhibit is always changing. Mask are required and some spaces have limited the amount of people allowed. Many private areas to use by yourself or with a few people. I added a photo of something I have never seen before, baking ware to check out! Need a character shaped pan for 1 party? You don't have to buy it, borrow it! Love this idea. Thanks for having a calming place to relax during a stressful time.

The TPL is one of my favorite places to go with my kids. It free, the staff are friendly. My kids have a wonderful time. Very organized and easy to find things. Very large selection of book, movies, audiobooks, and more.

I really enjoy the Topeka Library. The staff there is very nice and very helpful. They have a wealth of resources for the community, which is great, and whenever I need a meeting space for work stuff, I can find one. I just hope that this place and many others like it continue to get funding to keep them open and keep providing the same kinds of things for the public.

I am traveling and needed to access the Internet in order to go to class online… Elaine at the front desk was quite short with me when she told me: I can only give you one hour- even after explaining I am going to class- and asked if there was anything that can be done… "They probably won’t extend your time upstairs"… The security guard proceeded to stop me to tell me my service animal is: "Paying attention to everyone else" (he was walking beside me, just looking at people- not moving toward them … So, the library itself is lovely, however the encounters I had with the only two people were not!

I needed a proctor for a college exam and they had proctors. It was easy to sign up. Their dvd selection is astounding. They let you check out so many, I don’t think I need cable! They have a great computer area. I had space away from others and my own area to do research. Very orderly.
