Rio Salado College

The first term experience was frustrating. The enrollment process was frustrating. When speaking to personnel in one department, the personnel would transfer to another department who could not help and then transfer to another department or back to the previous department. Enrolling in the classes was not intuitive. Nothing is streamlined to inform a new student of the next step to choose a class, enroll, pay, etc. Student validation took 20 days even though the site stated 3-5 days. The advisor had no patience; responded to emails with answers that did not give an explanation to my question. The BPC 110 course had glitches in its old 2021 software. The FYE instructor gave no constructive feedback, only acknowledged the work submitted. The Positive: The PAR 101 class was very helpful and the instructor gave constructive feedback. His class was very informative and challenging. I am persevering in spite of the poor student enrollment experience and the first required classes.

My experience at Rio Salado College has been excellent. The online classes are well organized, flexible, and easy to follow, which made learning very convenient. The instructors are supportive and provide clear guidance throughout the course. In the New Venture class, I learned practical skills about entrepreneurship, business planning, and creativity. The assignments were meaningful and helped me connect theory with real-world applications. I’m proud to have achieved the highest score in the class, and I’m very grateful for the knowledge and support I received from Rio Salado College.

I was originally taking a Physics class in person at my home college. But the teacher was really disorganized. After two weeks, I started looking elsewhere. I looked around and found Professor Donna Blakeney's class at Rio Salado. I switched over my enrollment to her's instead. I was really concerned with taking an online class, and on a subject that I would consider complex such as physics no less! But Donna made the material easy to understand, and she was always available to answer questions. This gave me the support I needed to finish her class strong! Don't get me twisted! It was still a challenge but I'm grateful I made the switch, it was well worth it! I hope you get to read this Donna and you feel appreciated knowing the positive impact you make on our community! So far so good. I have taken my first class at Rio Salado in the education program. It was easy to sign up. The class so far was good. I also liked I was able to reach out to someone regarding questions I had about the Post Baccaularette Teaching Program. They all were very helpful and directed me to the right person.

I have taken classes at multiple community colleges under the Maricopa Umbrella in order to get all the classes I need in a timely manner. Of the 6, Rio Salado is my least favorite. I dislike Rio Learn compared to Canvas. I also dislike the vagueness of the grading rubric. I had one teacher take off points for all sections including the accuracy of my references since I left off the headings for "introduction" and "conclusion". All my references were fine according to feed back, but all sections had points removed. I have received amazing feedback for papers telling me everything was great and then had points removed without explanation. Removing points is only helpful if you explain why, I can't learn without understanding what is wrong. Overall, if you can get the classes you need somewhere else, do it.

As a first-time online class member after graduating from my home country, I was stunned and surprised by how organised and supportive Rio Salado College is. I sincerely appreciate John Monasterial for assisting me from the beginning and providing all the necessary resources via email. I was indeed enjoying all the informative links he provided. Additionally, when you call the landline, the staff ensures that all your concerns are addressed and that you do not leave feeling disappointed. Thank you for your support, and God bless you all!

I’m so glad I selected Rio my homework load was manageable, my instructor responded within 24 hrs after emailing when I had questions, and grading was fair. I love that they also offer multiple start dates on their classes.
