めっちゃうまっ! I just moved to Savannah a month ago with my fiance, and hadn't had a chance to go here until today. And sadly we'll l be moving away again in 2 weeks. Biggest regret was that we didn't try this place sooner! Hirano's has great quality fish and their imported toro, uni, and shirako was amazing. The ama-ebi was so good too. And I asked him if he takes the head and fries them, he said he can, and he did, and it was DELICIOUS also. Very fresh and flavorful. Also, they had a jelly fish appetizer that I think was soaked in Japanese style pickled plum. Highly recommend if you love jellyfish and sour flavors. And the umejiso (pickled plum, cucumber, shiso leaf) roll. Loved it! And I'm not an expert sushi person, but I did live in Osaka for two years (2022-2024) and tried so many different places there. And I gotta say, Hirano's is a great place to satisfy my sushi hunger. Also, very lucky that we came here when we did. He said that he only gets shirako once or twice a year for a very short time. We were able to coincidentally be there at the right time.
I've been a customer for years now. Sometimes as many as 3 or 4 times a week for pickup. Usually I get in my car around 5pm or a few minutes earlier and call it in on the phone. This time it's 4 minutes before 5 and I know they open the door until five but they have taken my order on the phone if it's just a few minutes early. Today I call........my watch 4:56....they answer and I ask if I can place a takeout and the "young girl" say call back at 5 and hung up just like that. My first question is.....then why did you bother answering the phone to begin with? I call back at 504 because by now the phone line is jammed and finally get through. I place my order and ask for an extra shrimp sauce which I always do because I can usually make two meals. I show up to be greeted by maybe a 17 year old girl and I pay but she says the order isn't ready yet but it turns out it's sitting on the shelf. I pay and get out of there and get home and guess what. One sauce...that's it.....I might just as well have been talking to a piece of stone! By the way....the same rude voice on the phone was the teenager that put the stuff in the bag and rang my order up. Is this a big deal? Not really,,,,,,but it is when you've been working all day, tired and don't feel like cooking and just want your usual simple meal the way you've been getting it for years. I learned something when my grandparents were in the restaurant and bar business. They said "there's no such thing as a loyal customer" and they were right....cause they'll never see my money again. If you don't pay attention every minute you are going to ruin either yours or someone else's business! The bottom line is this..........it's not about her. She's a child and she may have been trained maybe a week with no follow up or monitoring. She still wasn't familiar where everything was. Management is everything....if you don't teach them and monitor and evaluate and correct, you'll get what you get what you get. You put out a great product for a reasonable price so protect your interest.....slow down and pay attention.
Wonderful Japanese cuisine! My parents loved this place over 20 years ago, and it’s only gotten better! They have a certified sushi chef to boot. Their prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. Also, the staff is always super friendly and the service is quick!
Great place for sushi, rolls, ramen and don. Very fresh and reasonable price. Very friendly staff, quick services. If you are into Uni they arrive freshly every Thursday night, highly recommended.
The food is so wonderful. The young girl at the cashier was so polite and friendly! Everyone here has a great sense for the restaurant.
Amazing! Coming back for sure! Quiet. Quaint. Filling. Beautiful meals. I go every few months and always order the Hirano Specialty roll (pictured) and glass of the plum wine. The sampler is also sensational for sharing (or being stingy). This is the only place where I'll eat the sashimi tentacles.
Wow. We have lived here for 4 years and finally tried this place out. After living in hawaii, we were what I like to call Sushi spoiled. We have tried suchi places all over town and this was the best we have found. Everything was fresh, and melt in your mouth worthy. I wish it was closer to our house, but we will now go out of our way to eat here. The staff was very friendly as well, which is always a bonus. 10/10.
