If I could give this school a 0 star review I would. The professors are great but the rest of the staff from my experience are grossly incompetent. They will tell you one thing then do another. You get an email from them and good luck with getting an answer from them. They put a date in an email for something to happen that date is a lie they say February and they do it in January and don’t tell you. You call them to get help they will tell you all is fine don’t worry and then do the opposite of what they told you no warning or anything. Just tell you that your fine and your email will work then boom kicked out no access and trying to get any thing figured out good luck they will transfer you from department to department and no one has answers no one can help you. Makes me not one to ever attend a class here again it’s sad cause they use to be a great school but they have been going down hill over the past few years. So here I am again trying to get access to my email that they said I would have access too. Waiting on hold can’t email an advisor or talk to anyone from my email about classes I was looking to take. Can’t access the important emails I need from my email or references I need from there to even talk to a person on the phone cause no access. So, now I’ve been transfer to 4 different departments and sitting on hold an hour now again. This place is honestly getting worse every year. While I appreciate the advisors and the professors the rest of the staff needs to be replaced with more competent people. So, here is the warning to any future students get ready to deal with incompetent staff here, get lied to by staff here, get transferred from department to department, and sit on hold for hours on in cause they lied to you. There is a reason why this school has 3.3 stars and falling every year. Won’t be surprised this school has below 3 stars by next year. I do not recommend this school at all if you want a good college experience, try Valencia or any other college.
As a disclaimer, I am no longer attending SSC as I did graduate. Seminole State College was legitimately the worse experience I have had at any college. Every single semester there was a challenge of patience, as I had to repeatedly jump through hurdles and pester the staff to get the financial aid I was eligible for. I had to fight to get the actual amounts I had signed for each semester when they would try to give me less, where I would have to just happen to be checking to notice the changes. Then I would have to fight to get it disbursed on time. SSC has terrible communication in general, but especially with its students. I would constantly be fed misinformation or be told one thing by one person and then something conflicting by another. Most of the time I had to figure out the fixes to my issues on my own. To the point where I had been asked how I fixed something by IT once, so they could use it to help others. I even worked there for over a year and experienced firsthand how little the departments of the school knew of what happened in the others, so there was constant miscommunication or even none at all for extended periods. Currently I am struggling to prove I have withdrawn from the school so the financial aid office will cease attempting to process a grant I was given… despite not being registered anymore with the school. Despite having my actual student account be disabled which even showed proof I had not been enrolled for almost a year. I have contacted the financial aid office and the registrar’s office who have both given me the direct ways to contact exactly who I supposedly needed to contact to solve my issue. This was almost a month ago and I have not had a single response since to any emails. I cannot proceed any further in continuing my education with another college because the COD system has yet to be updated, so I cannot receive my grants to another school until SSC releases me. I am running out of time due to my next semester at a graduate school beginning soon, and I will be expected to pay thousands out of pocket if I cannot get my aid. Thanks, Seminole.
From my daughter's earliest days in elementary school, it was always the plan for her to complete her first two years of college at Seminole State and then use the (outstanding) Direct Connect program to transfer to UCF or another Florida university. My daughter is now in her sophomore year at Seminole State, and we couldn't be more pleased with her experience. The academic rigor is solid, campus life is vibrant, and the faculty and staff are always available and helpful. It's everything we could want from the college experience at a fraction of the cost so many of my daughter's friends are paying. Choice of college is a very personal decision with many factors that go beyond the academic experience, but I absolutely recommend EVERYONE at least tour and consider Seminole State.
Seminole State College of Florida is a real nice place. We have a Nice experience to be there. Me my wife and my Eight year kid really enjoyed this visit. We are in Building C for that adult education fair.
I submitted my FAFSA five months early for both the 2024–2025 and 2025–2026 academic years. As of today, I still haven’t received a single financial aid award letter—nor have I been given the opportunity to appeal. Instead, I continue to get notifications telling me to "contact the financial aid office," which I’ve done many times. I’ve gone in person, followed up by email, and even reached out to the Director of Financial and Student Affairs—but I have yet to receive a single response or acknowledgment. Today, I went to the financial aid office yet again, and the advisor I spoke with was not only unhelpful but openly admitted she doesn’t know what’s going on. She even said she tries contacting the director herself and gets no response. So it’s not just students being left in the dark—it’s their own staff too. That’s a major red flag. Even the student advisors have no idea how to work the portal to help out and I've received an email saying they can't help me because they dont understand the portal and only can give information after clicking around to see if they can figure it out. I was told my only options were to pay out of pocket for my classes or withdraw, despite still waiting on my FAFSA offer. Last semester, I followed the advice of another advisor who said to stay enrolled and "wait for aid to process." But since Seminole doesn’t process aid until after the add/drop period, students are left trapped—either having to pay out of pocket or withdraw and get a "W" on their transcript. Thankfully, I fought hard and had the "W" removed since it was entirely their fault, but this level of disorganization should never happen in the first place. Im just trying to take my pre-reqs to get into medical school and financial aid office is a massive blockade and achieving that goal. Like being told to just take half of an important class in session B because Fin Aid office is continously behind with absolutely no communication on their status with the student body. What a shame. Seminole State promotes itself as being supportive of nontraditional and returning students, but their lack of communication, accountability, and basic organization hurts the very students they claim to help. It’s frustrating, disheartening, and completely avoidable—yet nothing changes. If you're trying to improve your future and further your education, do yourself a favor: choose a school with a financial aid department that actually supports you.
I enrolled at Seminole State College hoping for a smooth transition into their Medical Information Coder/Biller program. Unfortunately, I encountered repeated issues with poor communication from both Financial Aid and my academic advisor. Despite reaching out multiple times, I received little to no guidance or support, even after officially notifying them of my withdrawal. My final email to my advisor — sent out of courtesy and professionalism — was never acknowledged. It’s incredibly disappointing to feel disregarded as a student, especially when all I was asking for was basic communication and support. I’ve since withdrawn and will be pursuing my education elsewhere. I hope the school improves how they treat students going forward — especially adult learners trying to better their lives.
I truly am not the type to write reviews. This has been a complete NIGHTMARE. No one will call you back, you end up on hold for hours, rarely will you get a response through email. The advisors don’t get back with you. I have been so excited to find a program that aligns with career choice and have actually walked away from other colleges who have been in constant communication. The only thing I am waiting on is my financial aid and I can’t seem to speak with anyone. Please save yourself the headache and find a college that will get back to you. I’ll most likely lose my classes now.
