Cabrillo Marine Aquarium

I wanted to get out and about on Saturday instead of laying on the couch like always, so we drove here from Torrance. it was worth the drive! parking is very cheap but they don’t take cash, only card. entry is free but for two adults we chose to donate $20. all in all, it was well worth the $22 we spent! the bathrooms were clean, accessible and had hot water, soap, toilet paper, and seat covers. yes, some of the exhibits are closed until April, but it was still a great time. we look forward to being back when the exhibits are reopened. we are two adults with a baby on the way but this would be a kid’s paradise. there’s a coffee shop there but we didn’t visit but I know most people like offset coffee, and the gift shop was adorable - didn’t buy anything because of our baby on the way, but everything was a reasonable price and the workers were very nice. the beach area was beautiful, if we had worn different shoes we would have gone on a better walk but seeing all the boats, water, and beautiful houses too made it the perfect date.

Took the kids here to go check out some marine life. You're only getting a 3 star rating because there was nothing posted or told to the parking attendants working the booths that 3/4 of the aquarium were closed for renovations. So you could show up and pay for parking thinking you're going to spend a few hours at the aquarium and it ends up being a bust! I'm just glad I didn't drive in from a city further away......that would of been more irritating. Thankfully, the kids still managed to have a decent time with what was on offer. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable as well. It wasn't much, but they left happy. Once they open the newly renovated space, I'll change this review to reflect my next visit.

It is a wonderful learning center. We learned so much while we were here. We went during the rain but it didn’t spoil the awesomeness of the aquarium. They said they will be open April 2026. I will for sure make it then.

Had a wonderful time at the Aquarium and extremely thankful for the volunteers giving a thorough 90min tour of the facility. I felt like a kid again and learned many new facts! I only took one star out because they are renovating the main area with live animal displays and was a bit disappointed I would not be able to experience that. Can't wait to go back when the work is complete. 🙂

We only got to experience half the aquarium due to construction but the half was saw was wonderful. Admission is free but they take donations so we donated what we had on hand ($20). The staff was so kind and informative and the tanks are well maintained.

The aquarium could have used more fish. Unfortunately the main exhibit room was closed. So, I was limited to the puppet show in the auditorium, the touch tank, and the nursery.

A very family friendly (and adult interesting) aquarium that only asks for a donation. All sea life is from our coast and is very educational and a hands on experience. I would highly recommend taking a day trip. San Pedro also has a free trolly that takes you all over town where you can experience all that San Pedro has to offer. And there is a trolly stop located in front of the aquarium.
