Kumon Math and Reading Center of Rochester

My daughter has been attending Kumon for reading and math since the age of 4, she is now 8. Her reading and writing level are well above her grade level and she is on grade level for math. She also scored 10 points above her peers for her NWEA standardized test. I know kumon has greatly contributed to her academic performance. I can attest that Kumon is a program that works with consistency. My daughter struggles with math but, I believe consistency with Kumon has allowed her not to fall behind and build on foundational learnings. Kumon has increased her confidence with math and she enjoys reading and writing as well.

My daughter has been attending Kumon Learning Center for a little over 4 months receiving assistance with math. We have found that the consistently of completing homework packets every day has helped tremendously. She is more confident with math.

We started the kumon with our twins very early and they are starting to become fluent readers and also proficient in solving the math problems at a faster pace of time. if the kids can be committed to this class they will surely benefit from the same.

We are new to Kumon and this was the first time we tried it. Regardless of the grade of the kids, even after the assessment, the kids were given single-digit additions and subtraction. The kids are doing fractions, equations, and divisions in school... and even though there is a possibility that they (Kumon center) felt kids didn't do well in assessment... they can't be as bad as this - starting with single-digit additions. Is this the Kumon way of doing things - regardless of assessment always start from scratch? If it is, it's a scam to extract money. Maybe it's just this center. Not to mention, there is no "teaching"... just pickup work, and submit them. No interaction other than that. - Based on our experience, we'd surely recommend sending kids somewhere else - other than Kumon (or other than this center, atleast).

Definitely the worst experience in education. Thought we'd try Kumon for the summer - first time ever. Kids in 4th and 6th grades are getting single digit addition and subtraction problems! When asked to get advanced material, their response was - we start from early level regardless! Mind you this was AFTER the assessment in which they themselves said that the level was higher (definitely beyond single-digit additions). REALLY... Maybe this is Kumon way of doing it or maybe it's center specific. Either way stay away from Kumon and find alternatives.

Kumon got recently taken over by new management and man can I say that I love them. They care so much about each individual child and genuinely takes into consideration what each child needs.

The teachers here are extremely patient and our young kids are doing great and learning study habit thanks to this rigorous program that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. it's too bad more native born Americans don't keep up to par with international standards.
