Korean tutoring

I can’t recommend Brandon highly enough as a Korean tutor. I took affordable, twice-a-week lessons with him for about two years, starting from zero Korean, and now I can have basic conversations with my in-laws and understand intermediate-level conversations. Our lessons were thoughtfully structured, about half conversational practice and half textbook-based learning. Brandon provided homework and plenty of self-study opportunities, and he consistently took the time to review and correct my work. His patience really stands out, especially when it comes to pronunciation and grammar. One of the best parts is how flexible he is with scheduling and timing, which made it easy to stay consistent long-term. He also tailors lessons to your real-life needs. For example, before I visited Korea, he focused on conversational "survival Korean" so I could get around confidently. I’m not the fastest language learner, but Brandon adjusted the pace and teaching style to match what worked best for me. If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, patient, and adaptable Korean tutor who genuinely cares about your progress, Brandon is an excellent choice.

My daughter has been studying Korean with Brandon, and I can’t say enough good things about him as a tutor. This is my fourth year taking Korean lessons with Brandon. He is very kind, patient, and an exceptional teacher. Every week we work on reading, writing, and speech. He has taught me so much, and has made it easy to feel comfortable speaking Korean.

I have taken lessons with Brandon for a little over 3 months, and I would highly recommend him as a tutor for all levels and backgrounds. I have a unique Korean vocabulary, so I don’t benefit from linear lessons (going from step 1, step 2, step 3, etc.). Brandon recognized that immediately and his lessons allow for structured learning as well as conversational, real-world learning. He also provides history of terms and explains the "why," and I find that to be so helpful in understanding. Overall, Brandon is encouraging, patient, knowledgeable, and has a friendly demeanor that makes it easy to be vulnerable and make mistakes. 10/10 recommend!

I've taken lessons with Brandon for about a year. I went into the lessons with very rudimentary Korean skills that had atrophied from decades of disuse. The way he teaches through conversation opposed to a more traditional classroom method makes learning far more organic and kept me continuing the lessons despite me always having been a poor student. A great result of his teaching method is you're learning terms and vocabulary that you're far more likely to use or encounter. He was able to shore up my Korean foundation, correct incorrect words or habits, and continues to build more and more knowledge on that foundation. I have an unusual work schedule where I'm available at strange times week to week and Brandon is always able to work around it. Despite my availability, I haven't once not been able to get my lessons in due to scheduling.

I’ve taken Korean lessons with Brandon for six months and he still makes each lesson fun and educational.   There’s a lot more to language than memorizing words and Brandon makes sure I understand the nuances and cultural norms.    I don’t think that would be available with computer software.  Often I think my pronunciation is perfect, but I’m not close at all, and he makes sure we repeat words until I’m accurate.    Learning with a person is also more motivating to me.  Brandon is really enthusiastic about Korean and that is important for a teacher.
