I love this place. As part of the graduating class this year, being apart of 初三 (9th grade), I just wanted to reflect for a little bit. Throughout my learning expirence, I've learned so much about the Chinese Language and Culture. The teachers are lovely, the staff are amazing, and the gym is actually being renovated right now. I've met so many friends here and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested. These are some photos from various special events at chinese school before renovations.
This is my 9th year at this school and I have learned a lot during my time here. I think it’s a really great school if you are interested in or willing to learn Chinese. They have very nice and helpful teachers here. The tuition is also cheaper than a lot of other Chinese schools nearby, but still effective! Attending this school has made me feel more confident in myself when speaking and writing in Chinese! Not only have I learned a lot of Chinese here. But I have also made a lot of friends and amazing memories that I will never forget!
I am a 初三 student from Shoong Family Chinese Cultural Center and I want to share with you why this school is spectacular! This school has taught me mandarin, Chinese history, and calligraphy. Also, if it weren’t for this school, I would never met the amazing friends I have today. The community there is wondrous! They would also host fun events for students to engage in. I would definitely recommend this school if anyone is looking for a school that teaches Chinese history and culture, calligraphy, and mandarin.
Pro: - Probably the cheapest care you can find. $200 for full day of care 9am-5pm - Lunch is provided. My 8YO daughter enjoys the lunch. She said there’s a variety of options - chicken nuggets, burritos, tacos, veggie and fruits - Teachers/staff recognize every parent’s face so no waiting in line to sign them in/out - The teaching seems to be getting through, my daughter is learning a handful of words and is able to make friends at camp and have fun - Textbook is provided for free - Staff is flexible and they helped adjust my daughter’s grade level and made an exception to let us attend for 3 weeks only (usually 4 weeks minimum) Con: - The facility is nothing fancy, it’s just old - Traffic and parking is tough if you are not used to driving in Chinatown - Definitely on the old school side - My daughter says the afternoon teacher is mean and yells at everybody, but this doesn’t seem to really bother her lol
Looking for a honest review? Well hi. im a 6th grader who goes to this school. Heres my honest review: Over these 7 years ive been here, ive honestly learned so much. Its a great area to bond with friends, and to just have fun learning about a new language/languages (sometimes it may be boring.) Most of the teachers I had were actually really nice, kind, and made learning more engaging. And they would host events and fundraisers that are actually really fun to buy from and to set up. BUT- be warned. There are a decent amount of bad teachers and students, and alot of favoritism, high expectations, and tests. And also, many people who dont understand chinese that well, get bad teachers, and/or are unable to find time to do chinese school work whilst having english school work may have a shitty time here. Especially since some (even most) teachers would yell at you for not turning in work ontime, or for getting bad test grades. But, aside from all that, overall this school was pretty nice FOR ME. (Also, much respect to you, Zhong Lao Shi!
This year, 2025, marks my tenth year at the Shoong Family Chinese Cultural Center. I am a 初三 student at this school, and will soon be a graduating from this school. This school is magnificent , it not only teaches Chinese but also teaches many other things like calligraphy, upper-classmen gets to learn about China's amazing history, and many more. Going to this school taught me a lot and also taught me the importance of being successful in school and life. Also, learning Chinese can be helpful in many ways in the future, and here was a great place to start, and I definitely recommend coming here.
This school is terrible, I don’t even why people go here. As a person of color they treat worse than all students here. Really when I tell them something that the teacher does to me they act like I’m mentally ill. And I’m crazy, like aren’t you supposed to do something? And I Don’t even learn nothing, all the teachers just point and talk about me. And when I’m with a classmate they pull away from people or just watch me and only me. And about the work if I forgot they don’t even give to me. All the teachers here are mean and rude and doesn t k ow who’s to mind there business they even told me to it down because it was the truth. So if you a person of color DO NOT go here .
