The Language Experts

I took Japanese in middle school, high school and a bit of college. I stopped learning the language after school for about 11 years and recently decided to start learning again about a year ago with Atsuko Sensei. First lesson we had I could tell she was an amazing teacher by the way she explained verb conjugation. Compared to the explanation in Genki it was so much easier. She has really great homework and assignments that keep motivation, and recently the group that I'm in registered to take the JLPT N5 level. She gave us practice tests that prepped us completely for all of the sections given in the official exam. I took the JLPT N5 yesterday and felt like it was easy, mostly thanks to Atsuko's thorough prep sessions. She even scheduled extra pre sessions on the weekend to make sure we were prepped enough. Overall I love the class and have been going for over a year now, I plan on continuing with Atsuko all the way up until full fluency. If you're think of taking Japanese no matter your starting level you're in good hands with Atsuko.

I first met Atsuko during a MeetUp outreach event putting native-speaking Japanese in Los Angeles in touch with people interested in studying. Years later, I have been studying Japanese under Atsuko, made several friends, and continued with my proficiency, and am ready to take a proficiency test. TLE uses textbooks as foundational material, but the additional instruction provided with the vast knowledge of linguistics and Japanese culture has filled in the gaps to give me what other Japanese courses (including those I took in Japan) could not. TLE is 100% COVID compliant, and utilizes shields, masks, and video conferencing to keep their members safe. Unfortunately, I have to move away from SoCal, but will continue to work with Atsuko because of her instructional prowess and attention to my specific needs as a student

Great selection with great service. Good deals and even greater selection. definitely recommended.
