Horrible school. The accounting undergrad program focuses way too much on classes that are not accounting. And you have the exact same issue with the MAcc program. They don’t offer cost or managerial accounting, but thank goodness you have to take 4 different IT classes. Last I checked, I applied for the masters of accounting program, not a masters in random IT applications program. Dr. Fuller is not very helpful when it comes to questions about his class or issues with the masters program in general. When I learned my sister had terminal cancer, I went to him and told him school couldn’t be my #1 priority anymore because of this horrible thing that had happened to our family. He assured me the program and faculty would be there for me and help me where they could. When I went to see him 2-3 more times throughout the semester, I had to remind me each time about the personal struggles I was facing, so obviously he did not care. Dr. Ayres assured me I would be "given whatever grade I needed" in order to pass my classes with the necessary GPA to get my degree. When the time came and final grades were posted, I was about to .06 points away from the necessary GPA to get the degree (3.0). Not sure why that is, when you pass all your classes, you’ve earned your degree. It’s not right for the school to add arbitrary requirements here & there. When I reached out to my professor about this, he claimed he didn’t remember saying that and merely wanted to "encourage me". When I told Dr. Fuller that this wasn’t acceptable he told me I could reapply and take the program again. I said absolutely not and that I needed to appeal this unjust decision. He told me "I don’t know what grounds you have for an appeal", like my sister hadn’t been dying from cancer for the last 5 months and passed only a matter of weeks ago. When I looked in the student handbook, an illness or death in the family was one of the first eligible reasons for an appeal to be made. These people don’t even know the rules in the college they work for. I appealed the process, which included having to send my dead sister’s obituary for proof? I have no idea, but that was so out of line. They knew my name and where I lived, if they really didn’t believe me, they could’ve looked it up themselves instead of making me send it. That was despicable to ask. I successfully appealed and was finally was given my degree. But not so fast! Even then, I was faced with rude and useless employees. Missy Martin couldn’t handle a few emails back and forth about solving this horrific mistake without some cheek. All in all, this is an atrocious school with an overwhelming amount of useless, incompetent, and rude faculty. I absolutely did not enjoy my time there and now detest anything UT-related. I now live out of state and have come into contact with students at other universities and can tell from a handful of conversations that those MAcc programs at other schools are infinitely better. However, I do recommend Dr. Hart and both Dr. Chyz’s. They were some of the few professors I enjoyed, and that were helpful when it came to succeeding in class.
