went into the DA program an finished it and all i have to say is all the DA teachers do is come into each others classroom and gossip about other students and teachers IN FRONT OF STUDENTS. this happened everyday and took away from my learning and it was beyond frustrating. Teacher seemed upset/annoyed if i ever asked for help. she seemed to favor my other classmates way more because all they literally did was gossip and make very inappropriate jokes with each other, as well as the fact that the teacher would vent about her personal life almost daily which again (not surprised), took up class time. The teacher im talking about is hatfield. she took it upon herself to ask me and my classmate to come to her (while everyone else went home) and scold me and my classmate for not knowing where a box of instruments was (which we found by ourselves anyway yet she still got mad). i was always picked on for no reason, i just always assumed it was because i was quiet and kept to myself and did not participate in the inappropriate jokes/gossip she always talked about with other students in the class and she just did not like me because of that. it was such a dread to come to class due to her horrible attitude every single day. i told the school about this and nothing was done. in conclusion, horrible da program experience. the only teacher that was most genuine, kind, and helped with most of my learning was mrs longnecker.

Not Worth the Price – Go to VVC Instead I went through the HVAC program here and honestly, it’s not worth it. I ended up transferring most of my credits (about 90%) to Victor Valley College, and VVC is easily 50–70% cheaper with more program options. Here’s the truth: • Around 80–90% of the guys I know who finished the HVAC program still don’t have jobs. Maybe 10% found work. • The higher-ups and staff don’t really help with job placement. You’re mostly on your own. • I had to find both of my apprenticeships myself. One of the contractors even told me he had five or six SJVC guys before, and compared to VVC or other college grads, SJVC students had a reputation for not knowing much. That says a lot about how the program is viewed in the real world. • For the tuition cost, it’s just not worth it. You’ll pay way more and get way less than you would at a community college. And it’s not just me. Other students have had issues with administration here too. They leave you out cold, don’t help at all, and just see you as a number or a statistic. A couple of other HVAC guys I know feel the same way. On top of that, one of the professors I was close with — someone I respected and had a good relationship with — ended up leaving SJVC. That tells you a lot. If you’re serious about HVAC or trades, do yourself a favor and go to Victor Valley College (or another community/tech college). You’ll save money, get a better education, and have a better shot at actually landing work after.

The Electrical program by far is the most efficient and understandable program ive been a part of, the professors Mr.Martin and Mr.Valencia are the best. Their methods of teaching are very simple yet very effective as well as understandable. Already recommended my cousins as well as friends

im about halfway through the electrician program now, and have to say i’ve been loving the knowledge gained so far, the courses have been challenging as expected, but the help is there. Got a few months left and excited to get into the field already.

I attended the medical assistance program. The teachers were very welcoming, as well as knowledgeable. I feel like there was a lot of support given inside the classroom and they really care about what they do and how they are setting you up for success. However, the career advisor that I was given was very unprofessional I could never get a hold of her and made my extern absolute hell. I am still struggling to find a job after my extern finished.

Update When I first started SJVC, I was worried I would fail and it would be a big mistake. The stress and anxiety I was feeling had me feeling like I was a failure before even starting!! However, the experiences I've had with the instructors and the coursework were phenomenal, fantastic, educational, and supportive. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Great, fantastic, amazing, online instructors. I was disappointed with my externship and job placements. The career advisors made me feel like I was ungrateful for the opportunities due to my situation in life. I felt dismissed. However, less than 24 hours after posting, I get a phone call apologizing about my negative experiences and questions about how they can help. I am shocked they are prioritizing a student who has already finished the courses and has a job placement because they are genuinely concerned. Thank you. Ending note. Their career advisers are nice when they're steering you in the direction they want you to go, and dare I say it, they do have fantastic interview tips, and they can build your confidence to get you ready for your interviews, which is an amazing skill they utilize well. I would just like them to be more mindful of people's circumstances.

My Experience here is not the best instructor here is rude they pick and chose who not to give Problems to . If you don't understand a subject my teacher would say out loud what am i doing wrong in a rude way and single you out. The dean here knows all the dental assistance teachers here Personally so you really Couldn't came to her to speak about what's going on because she Automatically sighting with the instructor. making it difficult to feel heard. During our conversation, I was told it would come down to the instructor’s word over mine, also said i was going behind the teacher back by coming to her which left me feeling unsupported and discouraged. I care about my education, but the current environment is affecting my ability to succeed. I hope this can be addressed.
