HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College

Frankly, I don’t have many complaints. Overall, the campus environment has consistently treated me well. During my time attending Harrisburg Area Community College, my anonymity was respected when requested, including a name change. In my experience, the majority of professors (roughly 8 out of 10) have been professional and supportive. The college president has also been respectful in every interaction I’ve had. Like any college, HACC operates within practical and financial realities. That’s to be expected and doesn’t diminish the professionalism I’ve personally experienced. Campus security deserves specific recognition. They’ve assisted me on multiple occasions, whether due to injury or simply offering help, including a ride to the soccer field when needed. Their conduct has consistently been professional. I’m also glad a resolution was reached regarding staff matters. Overall, my experience has been positive.

Don't bother attending HACC unless you plan on quitting your day job. There is little to no working friendly options for anything they offer. There is no support for their financial aid office. They let you speak to financial aid on Fridays between 10a-2p by appointment via zoom and it seems to go 3+ months out for appointments. Like anyone has time for that... The form you have to submit via email results in vague non-answers and they make you submit a new form every time you respond. It is UNREAL how poorly this is being managed. It is starting to feel somewhat scammy. I wish a better alternative was available.

I am on the home stretch of the A.D.N. Stack Program at HACC. Throughout my educational journey, there have been many ups and downs, but my intention with this review is to highlight the positive qualities of the college. As with any organization, there are areas for improvement; however, I believe those are best communicated privately. HACC offers remedial classes that help students successfully transition into college-level coursework. The college-level classes themselves are academically rigorous and require attendance, determination, and collaboration with professors to succeed. The faculty come from diverse professional backgrounds, which enriches the learning experience and prepares students from all walks of life for the workforce or for continued undergraduate studies. Students have access to multiple campus libraries, as well as computer and calculator loan programs. The college also provides many forms of support, including free tutoring and emergency assistance when needed. The nursing clinical professors and adjunct faculty at the York campus go above and beyond to encourage growth in every student. The clinical experiences are designed to develop competent nurses who are well-prepared to pass the NCLEX and transition smoothly into roles within the community. During my time at Harrisburg Area Community College, I have completed several programs and returned as my professional goals have evolved. As a nontraditional student, my journey has been unique—filled with challenges, growth, and perseverance. Education requires time, effort, and resilience, but HACC has provided me with a place to truly change my life. I am deeply thankful.

This is my first semester of college and unfortunately my experience here has not been great. With the recent strike it has shown me that HACC is extremely disorganized, and doesn’t care at all about their students or the faculty. As a student I have dealt with nothing but confusing emails and little communication on what we are supposed to do. The president and administration have sent emails degrading the professors and trying to turn students against them. This whole thing has been stressful and messy, and has completely changed my opinion of the school. The college also messed up my schedule only 3 days before classes started and I had to rearrange everything. I love college, and HACC has wonderful professors and great classes but I am very disappointed in the administration and college as a whole. I don’t plan on graduating from HACC and I would encourage other students to consider some of these things before enrolling here.

FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD. Someone was attending the school using my name, birthday, and address. I filed fraud they stated it was handled. After they said the issue was resolved I recieved a final notice and collections bill. I have filed police reports and this school fails to correct the issue. They let anyone sign up with no proof of identification. stay away!!! im NOT A STUDENT NOR HAVE I EVER BEEN. someone fraudulently used my information to enroll.

I had an amazing experience at HACC a few years ago, went through the EET program. My experience was 5 stars, now I understand they're killing this degree program. I have a terrific career because of this program and am very disappointed that they would take this opportunity away from future students.

I was supposed to get my financial aide on the 21st of last month. I’m still waiting. I was supposed to get my car with my refund so I can travel to class next semester ( I’m a hour away & my classes for next semester requires me to travel for labs). They have no phone number to call, which is odd.. just late response emails. After next semester I will have no choice but to transfer to DCCC which sucks because they don’t have the program I’m aiming for but they have a decent program thats good enough to settle for than this. I believe HACC have financial aide staff that works from home or something. I attended all my classes and I’m on the deans list. So ..What is the excuse ?? Anytime I ask about how much my refund will be that question gets ignored. I’m not dealing with this after next semester. I’m definitely leaving after fall semester.
