Indian River State College is an amazing university system in East Central Florida. The campuses are very attractive with everything the student needs and the student body is diverse. There is something for everyone. There is remedial education for high school students entering college at a disadvantage, basic classes for freshmen, programs that are hands-on such as, HVAC technician and plumbing, and the more intellectual careers, such as premed and business. They really go out of their way to help the students afford college and to prosper. My program was completely paid by the university scholarship funds. I recommend this college for everyone. It is near the beach and many other local attractions and there are three major campuses, Vero Beach, Fort Pierce, and Port St. Lucie. They have a wide variety of programs for every student.
Unfortunately have to give it a 3 because I’ve been having trouble getting an academic advisor and getting my schedule information and situated. I’ve been back and forth speaking to multiple people and took time out twice from work to go in person and was registered, so I thought but still didn’t get assigned an advisor. Left multiple voicemails and emails and I’ve gotten no reply. All I’ve been looking for is someone to just please help me make sure I’ve got all information I need to start my classes and all I’m ever told is I have to come in and speak to someone. This is something that can take 5 minutes over the phone. Just sad and frustrating. The campus on the other hand is nice from what I’ve seen and well maintained.
Not really sure what Kind of college openly admits several times that they "don’t answer emails or calls" it’s completely ridiculous. The advising and registration teams are not expected to provide anything nor answer emails or calls? If the workload is too much for them to answer calls and email maybe consider hiring more? unprofessional to expect people to walk in when people have jobs and life’s.
I was going to school here in 2017. Now I'm back and using my G.I. bill. They have parking for veterans. This is cool. You get to park in the front not of builds for your classes.
Great local college. I am not a student but I got to swim during their noon session free to public. Thanks for letting me swim in the college pool for free. The water is clean and pool is cool.
changed the qless system twice!!! canceled my advising appointment for my last course i need to graduate promised that the online classes are by special circumstances and now the only way you can speak with advising is walking in, doesn’t even matter if you’re completely online. this college is great! seriously.
TERRIBLE SCHOOL. I transferred credits from out of state. Despite other Florida state college accepting the course, this school tells me it isn't accepted and I have to wait until fall semester for them to change their mind and fix it because it does meet their criteria. In the meantime they kept pressuring me to take the same course that I already took. Their advisors constantly quit leaving me without advisors on multiple occasions and they are very condescending. As a student with a disability, they tried to deny me accommodations despite having all the paperwork. Many of their online instructors do not respond to messages. I find myself advocating for myself with no avail and the quality of education is horrendous. Look into other stage colleges. You can get a good price with better quality instructors and faculty. Update: After they told me to submit a re-evaluation and I did it, and no one responding to me, I made phone calls. Still no one got back to me. One day out of the blue, I get a text message that my diploma is ready. Still to this day no one responded. Good news they accepted AND I was able to graduate! However, the lack of communication is ridiculous. I shouldn't have had to go through all of this.
