San Diego Liberal Arts Academy

This is a GREAT option for those trying out "homeschool" or independent study. The teachers help students pick assignment options that best fit their learning style. The lessons are engaging. All 5 of my kids have absolutely loved SDLAA! So far, the first 3 have gotten into the university of their choice. The negative review I saw above must have been for a different school of the same name as I have never seen anything about overseas or rigorous academics associated with this school. The teachers are great to give students the option for deeper study if a particular subject interests them, but it's not required. They do meet CA state standards for all middle and high school subjects. If you want your kids to enjoy learning, this is a GREAT school for them!

My teenage son really enjoyed his classes this past year at SDLAA and I was very happy with the communication from the teachers and the quality of materials they covered. Classes that can sometimes be boring (Physics and Humanities) were made to be fun and engaging and my son looked forward to his in person classes every week. I've already got him signed up for this coming year and I highly recommend giving them a try.

I am a credentialed independent studies teacher. I work with and know many students who have attended and love SDLAA. The work I see coming from the students is quality work! I have heard rave reviews from students and parents alike! Very creative, hands-on methods are used for instruction. It's a wonderful place! Check it out!

My kids love the classes here at SDLAA. The instruction was interesting to them and they had the freedom to be creative as well as competitive in writing and had a hands on experience with science .They are excited to go back this year!

I am grateful to have an educational option the supports my homeschool efforts and provides a positive social environment. My oldest 2 children took the art, science, and humanities classes. The learning environment fit their learning style. This year I will be signing up their younger siblings to start classes as well.

I really loved my time at SDLAA, my teachers were always awesome and kind. Very forgiving on assignments too, not like the end of the world if it's late. I loved every minute there even when I was confused about what I was learning because it was always easy to ask for help. Even during covid when we had zoom classes it wasn't too bad. Definitely tricky, but I still learnt a lot. Thank you guys <3

Do not come to this academy! The majority of the reviews are students of the academy that are instructed to deliberately inflate the ratings. The "academy," if you can call it that, baits people with promises of being accepted to overseas universities with extraordinarily high rates. The reality, however, is that the education here in no way prepares you for upper education, and I have fallen so far behind in my studies because of it. The inflated acceptance rates they boast about are only from the lowest of the low-tier universities that are almost desperate for applicants—they'll accept nearly anyone with a pulse. And if you don't comply, they refuse to release your transcript as well as deliberately lower your GPA to punish you. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
