UC Davis promotes itself as one of the most welcoming institutions for international students — but in reality, that message often feels like empty marketing. Behind the polished brochures and diversity slogans, many international students find themselves navigating a system that’s far more political, rigid, and isolating than advertised. Success here too often depends on conformity over curiosity. Speaking up, thinking independently, or challenging the status quo can lead to subtle exclusion rather than meaningful engagement. Unless you're willing to quietly agree with everything and play along with the institutional culture, it can be a deeply frustrating experience. What international students really need is genuine academic inclusion, fair treatment, and cultural understanding — not just surface-level hospitality. Unfortunately, UC Davis still has a long way to go in living up to its claims.

Great new building for international programs (Intensive English Program), study abroad, and international student services. Chill common areas and nice furniture for working in small groups or on your own.

prepare to be suspended by those people if you are not that stupid. do not try to talk to or argue with them. stay away and submit uc transfer applications.

Every time I went there, the staff told me they would start processing my CPT application next week. Now it's been 12 weeks!!!!!!!! My CPT is still pending!!!!! The old white receptionist working in 3rd floor is the worst American I've ever seen.
