I am sincerely grateful to the Co-op staff and the security guards they employ. I fell on the sidewalk on G Street outside the store recently. Muhammad, the wonderful security guard on duty, was quick-thinking, professional, and very caring. The kind Co-op crew even gave me some orange juice. These are the people you want nearby in an emergency! Plus, the Co-op is a great place to shop. Kudos all around!

Grateful they are here, though I could do without the conventional items and meat. Sandwiches and prepared foods are so expensive, except the sushi which is actually cheaper than Nugget and has brown rice (or white) and all veggie options. I can't have white anything so I'd appreciate whole grains for pastas, prepared foods and coffee shop items. The old smoothie menu was better; I recommend bringing it back!

The Davis Food Co-Op is one of my favorite places to shop. It’s clean, well-organized, and the staff are always friendly. They have a great selection of fresh, local produce and a helpful bulk section. There’s plenty of parking and a nice bike rack out front. It may cost a bit more, but it’s worth it to support a local business that cares about the community.

I've been shopping here for the past 1-2 years, and there's a lot to love! The produce quality is consistently excellent, and their plant-based selection is solid. (especially appreciated in Davis where vegan options can be hit or miss) The hippie sandwich deserves its own paragraph: it's legitimately one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Period. That said, I've noticed the customer experience shift a bit this last year. The security presence out front and the new kiosk system for orders (which is clunky and frustrating to use) feel like they're moving away from the warm, community-centered vibe that made this place feel special. I 100% understand that businesses evolve, but these changes make it feel less welcoming. Other things that are great: - 20% member days! - Alicia, who's always friendly, works hard, and makes the best food! - Vegan food classes! The co-op remains an important place for the plant-based community here. I'm hopeful they'll find ways to balance operational needs with the welcoming, community approach that makes it special.

The Davis Food Co-op is such a gem — truly one of the best parts of living in Davis! The quality of their products is top-notch, and you can feel the care that goes into every section of the store. The produce is always vibrant and fresh, the bulk section is unbeatable, and the local products make it easy to shop sustainably while supporting small businesses. The staff is consistently friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They’re always happy to answer questions or help you find something new to try. The whole place has that welcoming, community-driven vibe that makes shopping feel personal and meaningful. Their deli and hot bar are also amazing — everything tastes homemade, healthy, and full of flavor. It’s perfect for a quick lunch or dinner to go. Overall, the Davis Food Co-op isn’t just a grocery store — it’s a local treasure that reflects the heart of the Davis community. Clean, organized, and full of quality — I always leave feeling good about what I bought and who I supported.

A great locally owned grocery store in Davis. The store is on the smaller side but still has all the departments including produce, meat, seafood, deli, frozen and bulk ingredients. They also have a great beer selection, a grab-and-go counter and made to order sandwiches. The bulk selection is great because you can get exactly the quantity you need of just about any dry food. This is a co-op and is supported by membership however one does NOT need to be a member to shop here.
