Had a pleasant experience here working on getting a basic certificate. The consular officer showed patience and understanding despite us lacking much of the necessary information and helped navigate the process to obtain them.

Had to schedule a new appointment for my H1 visa because I needed proof of address through a physical document however the bilingual staff are very friendly and courteous

I’ve visited this consulate several times, and each visit has been marked by unprofessional, dismissive treatment. During my most recent visit, I came to request a copy of a document but was met with condescension, incorrect information about my own citizenship, and zero help - particularly from the man in the third window who was aggressive and incredibly rude from the jump. I’m Korean American, born abroad and raised in the U.S. I came with genuine questions, but was treated like I was stupid for not knowing Korean government procedures. One staff member argued with me about my place of birth, another looked annoyed when I asked to speak English, and neither provided any clear information about what I needed. No one explained the process, and I even overheard the man angrily complaining about my situation afterward to his colleague next door. How this place maintains 4 stars is questionable - I HIGHLY suspect fake reviews. If you’re a Korean citizen living abroad, especially second-gen like me, don’t expect patience or guidance here. This office needs serious training in basic customer service, cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and RESPECT for the very people it’s meant to serve. Update: Interesting to see a glowing 5 star review posted right after mine, conveniently countering the exact opposite of what I experienced (and suspiciously addressing the issue I had). I’m sure there are some who had positive experiences but I HIGHLY suspect there are fake reviews on here because it’s seriously questionable how this place maintains 4 stars.

We received our Korean visa certificate yesterday and were so happy! We’d like to especially thank the visa officer at Window 2 — he was very friendly and patiently communicated with us through writing, as we are both Deaf. He answered all our questions carefully and even knew some basic gestures like ✅ and ❌. Truly amazing service! There was just one small disappointment: we had imagined seeing a beautifully designed Korean visa sticker inside our passport, but instead, we received a plain paper document. We’re a bit concerned — what if it gets lost, blown away, or damaged by water? Fortunately, we have downloaded the Visa Certificate PDF. But we’re not sure — would showing the PDF on our phone be acceptable at immigration? Overall, our experience was very positive. Thank you again to the kind and respectful officer!

Mediocre quality of service. It’s not bad nor good. All depends on case by case. I’ve been there for years and they are good and kind relatively in general but not all the time. Don’t forget they work for the government but I haven’t felt deserved as proud of Korean well. It means they still have habits bureaucratically. Notice: office renovation is on-going!
