Brentwood Union School District

I can’t say enough about two of the elementary schools! I work at Garin and every teacher I have worked with has been phenomenal! The admin work hard to make it a place where kids don’t want to miss a day! My daughter attends Krey (reason is complicated family dynamics) and I love walking her to school and hearing about her day each afternoon. The admin and teachers have helped her thrive and go out of their way to help my daughter when needed it.

I have had several issues at Mary Casey Black. I addressed most of them with the Principal and nothing was resolved. I went to the District office today to speak with the superintendent. I was told that I had to schedule an appointment with the administrative assistant. I called and she refused to schedule the appointment. She said that I have to talk to the Principal about the latest issue first. What is the point of having a superintendent if parents can't talk to them. I also have an issue at Bristow with the weight of the 6th graders backpacks. They don't have lockers and their backpacks are about 25 lbs. This is a recipe for back problems.

I gotta say I have been to this office only about 4 times. The first time was a very nice experience, ladies helped me get my daughter registered. With that said this year I have had to come back a few times this last time was to pick up a laptop. Some lady came out to help us and I’m sure she’s very nice in general but the way she talked to myself and another lady, I felt was very rude. You can say she was blunt and to the point but you are working with people and their kids. Said that I had to Make an appointment to pick up the laptop, I told her I didn’t know that. I was confused because in the email it stated to just come by on Monday or Tuesday. She then stated, "well it’s not my department". Ok so if it’s not your department then why the attitude and why even say I needed to make an appointment? Like I’ve stated. She must be nice in general but sometimes you have to take a step back and see how your might come across to others. I had to do the same in my retail years and it was very hard to hear that I came across as very b@$!/&. Maybe the schools should do upward reviews or peer reviews and maybe we can all learn to speak to each other with much more respect. I also want to say that Ms. Fernandez is so helpful and such a sweet person! Thank you for all your help everyone at BUSD! I really do appreciate it.

just so you know, you taxpayers are getting ripped off big time. The purchasing department does no bid contracts. They paid their cozy vendor 35% over the market rate for equipment without even getting a second quote. There are only two vendors in this sector but they couldn't be bother to look at both. Andre never answers the phone. Yuck. That's how they spend your money.

My family has been in this school district for 7 plus years and it's terrible! So many instances of neglect and the superintendent is the worst I've ever dealt with. They hide and make excuses but never seem to correct the issues at the expense of the children. Money is their main motivation and it shows.

I’m disgusted at the behaviour exhibited by the faculty of the school board or school itself. Abusing a child with disabilities is horrific and they will suffer for the rest of their lives now, enduring that memory over and over again while living with their disadvantage. I am enraged and disgusted, the principle and all associating me members should be FIRED after a new vote is held on who will replace them. I am sick.

MY CHILD WAS KICKED OUT OF THE DISTRICT BECAUSE I WAS SICK! Last year I had a medical issue that made getting out of bed each day feel impossible however I got my child to school every day. Many times we ended up just a minute or two late. I made verbal comments or wrote in the late book about my medical state. The only time the tardies were ever address, I apologized and repeated my situation. Never did I hear about the subject again until this summer when I recieved a letter from the district saying that the elementary school doesn't want us back due to the tardies and that the district decided they don't want us either and to find a new place to take my child. I have tried calling many times, left many messages and have recieved no response.
