If you’re anywhere near Newbury Street and even remotely a chocolate lover, you owe it to yourself to stop by ROYCE’ Chocolate. The moment you walk in, you’re hit with that signature ROYCE’ aroma — rich, creamy, and dangerously inviting. The staff here are warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely excited to help you find your perfect treat. I ended up picking their Walnut Chocolate Wafers, and wow… these are on another level. Light, crisp wafers with perfectly balanced layers of chocolate and the subtle crunch of walnut — not too sweet, not too heavy, just absolutely addictive. I planned to save some for later, but let’s just say that didn’t happen. Fun Fact: ROYCE’ originated in Hokkaido, Japan — a region known for its exceptional dairy. That’s one of the secrets behind their famously silky chocolates! Whether you’re gifting, exploring Japanese sweets for the first time, or treating yourself "just because," this shop is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back to try more!

I went to sample some chocolate with yelp event and the 4 chocolates pieces were all delicious. The staff was nice and knowledgeable.

The new location was very clean with well organized displays. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the chocolate flavors and allergen information. The chocolate was fantastic and I would definitely recommend trying a sample as it nothing like the chocolate you typically find in the US. The chocolate is much creamier and has deep flavor.

If you are a true "chocolate lover," but haven’t tried Japanese chocolate, then, maybe you are just a "chocolate liker." And, to even claim you’ve "tried Japanese chocolate," you have to include Royce chocolate… because it’s the best Japanese chocolate… And it’s right here in Boston. Royce chocolate is made in Japan, and contains so much extra milk… It needs to be refrigerated! Some big chocolate brands rely on fake, fancy, foreign names, and spend all their money on million dollar ad campaigns… All to end up in a class action lawsuit because you’re not even imported. (you know who you are.) Royce chocolate is the real deal. THE DEAL: if you want the best, imported chocolate in Boston, go to Royce chocolate from Japan!

We drove 1.5 hours to Royce after friends of ours recently went to Royce in New York and brought us back a box. The woman working there was not friendly, and not helpful at all. We purchased $167 worth of chocolate so we could give some as gifts. This chocolate is very expensive. Here is the reason we probably will not go back to this store. As we checked out and paid, the woman slowly slid two red paper bags into our bag. She had already put chocolates in a pinkish bag so we didn’t understand why she was sliding red paper bags into our larger bag. We never asked for these bags, yet there is a 20 cents charge each for these bags for a total of 40 cents, plus a .2 cents charge for a MA paper bag fee which we didn’t notice until we left. Again, we never asked for them, and she never mentioned a charge. We felt this was very insulting and petty to do given the fact we just spent $167 on chocolates, and we are charged for 2 paper bags we never asked for, and which were not even being used, and not even opened. All chocolates were already in a larger bag so putting two unopened red bags into that bag, and charging us for them seems petty and odd. This experience was not comfortable for us at this location. Customer service is lacking here. Hope they enjoy that extra .42 cents they got from us. The $167 wasn’t enough I guess. Check your receipt before you leave.

Japanese chocolate shop that specializes in milk chocolates. Royce chocolates have been one of my favorites chocolates ever since I tried them in Tokyo couple of years ago, and I was excited to find their store in Boston. Their soft texture is a huge differentiating factor from other generic or European chocolates, and although the prices are double what you would pay for in Japan, they were still worth getting. They still had a fence right near the entrance to limit in store shopping, so it was somewhat difficult to browse through their menu. Nevertheless, I will come back to get my favorite milk chocolates and their new flavors. If you’re a fan of soft chocolates, I recommend trying them out.

Went here for the lady while back in town as I wasn’t allowed to return to Denver without a few boxes of nama chocolates. I hadn’t had any before this trip but I must agree that they’re tender and tasty, better than Lindt chocolates as they aren’t as sweet. Pay a premium but it’s worth it for the not-everyday occasion. The lady working that day was pleasant too.
