Montana Academy of Salons - Billings

I’ve been procrastinating getting my hair done because I didn’t have a stylist in Montana. I decided to take the risk of a student cutting/ coloring my hair and I am SO glad I did. Madison gave me probably one of the best haircuts I’ve had in a long time. She was attentive, actually paid attention to what I asked for, was an absolute joy to talk to, and was very knowledgeable when it came time to mix my gloss/toner formula. I would 100% book with her if you can, I confidently set up another appointment with her before she graduates, and I will probably follow her wherever she goes in the future as long as I’m in the area. I feel more like myself than I have since moving here!

My niece went to this school, she graduated a few months back.I thought I should share some of the things she experienced here at this school.Before you go and spend all your money.One teacher in particular Ms.Keyes, would treat the students horribly, she would speak to them sarcastically, in a very passive aggressive tone.Her and her daughter Reese would talk poorly about the students. My niece also stated that she would talk about her personal problems regarding her child’s father. I personally think that it’s very unprofessional. They would also preach hygiene and say that you have to present yourself in a cleanliness way. All of things I get as it’s a salon, but I think it’s very hypocritical of them because not all of the teachers practice those same rules. I think it’s unfair of them to preach hygiene when majority of the teachers show up dirty and stinky, my niece said that the only teacher that was respectful and didn’t give her a hart time was Ms. wood.

I understand people have to learn but the student did not have the skills to be working on people yet. I booked for a full acrylic set and i was told by the tech working on me that she was not good at acrylic but she was good at "hard gel". she was running out of the color i had chosen and was going to try using a completely different color. She took an hour and a half just getting and gluing the nail tips on. And the teacher only showed up at the very end and said very nice. They were not. They are all different shapes and lengths and have started lifting after a couple days.

My wife had a specialty perm done a few days ago by Kayla Kelsey , she has a hard time trusting salons , because of her long hair , but Kayla was very professional and did an amazing job , she is very happy with her new hair style and will def be going back for more services 😄

I waited for 30 minutes for a gentleman that botched my hair so bad that it feels like he took thinning shears to my already thin hair 😭😢 I thought to myself that " it will grow back " but no it still hasnt snapped out of it and so I came here to mention it. I won't be ever goin there again. I understand they are students but I could have done a better job with my eyes closed with no mirror 🪞!!!!! You get what you pay for literally.
