Council on Aging offers a free 2 hour class to educate yourself on signing up for Medicare at 65. SO VERY HELPFUL, with no sales pitch of any kind. It's all about what you need to know so you make the right choices for yourself. 100% Education, 0% Sales Pitch, Perfect! Go to the council on aging website for the county you live in to check for a class near you. Invaluable!

OLLI is a treasure to everyone 50 or older. OLLI is affiliated with 125 colleges and universities in the U. S. The Asheville, NC OLLI has incredible instructors who love both learning and teaching. The range of classes is amazing! My biggest challenge is deciding which classes I will take since there are always so many wonderful ones from which to choose! The fees are minimal thanks to volunteer instructors and committee members. Our staff, led by our remarkable director, Catherine Frank, is knowledgeable, kind, and efficient. I keep reading that the best ways to "stay young" are to keep moving, keep learning, eat a healthy diet, and maintain a social network. Not only can you take classes that address all of those "rules", you can put them into practice just by taking OLLI classes!

This place has a lot to offer as far as conferences go! I've already attended photography club meetings and environmental group gatherings held in its main auditorium, and have also performed here as part of the Autumn Players for several of their open readings!
