Northern Virginia Community College - Alexandria Campus

DO NOT DO ADVANCED PROGRAM. I’m having a terrible experience with GMU. I’m trying to register for classes can’t even do it because it doesn’t think I’ve taken the prerequisites. Also having to contact the BAS Advisors is HELLL. I’ve contacted my advisor multiple times and she has yet to respond to any of my emails. I also applied for FASFA come to find out coming to GMU and registering months before semester doesn’t allow you ur full aid so I had to take out a loan just to cover my tuition when I get full aid. Just go to NOVA get ur degree and choose a UNI besides GMU. If I’m not able to register for my classes because they’re full and because my advisor doesn’t answer. I’m going to be fuming and I will not be attending that school again. I just wished NOVA did a better job explaining the cons of going to GMU the school that gets the least amount of financial aid offers. Thank you NOVA

I attended in the seventies. strong english-- especially professor raphaeli--and music Departments. Weaker education and american history back then. But enough about professors Kersaia & Olsen. 3.5 stars

I just visited the Alexandria campus advising office to discuss course registration and transfer planning. Unfortunately, Advisor J. L. Harris seemed distracted, gave me only about 10 minutes, and did not answer my questions. I left feeling unsupported and frustrated. I hope NOVA improves its advising services so students receive proper guidance.

They never credited the Clep. Also they don't help military community. We had great experiences with other colleges and university but NOVA failed us in every way possible.

Not about quality of education here but location other amenities are good, lot of parking easy access, calm campus though close to DC.

This community college is WORST . The instructors are uninspired, and the curriculum feels outdated. The administration is disorganized, and the facilities are in terrible shape. Don't waste your time or money here. I WOULD NEVER SEND MY KIDS TO THIS COLLEGE

I've had an excellent experience at Northern Virginia Community College - Alexandria Campus as I work towards my AS in Mathematics. The transition from in-person classes to Zoom-based learning was seamless, and I appreciate the flexibility and convenience of remote classes. The professors are exceptionally professional, always engaging, and responsive to questions, whether during live sessions or office hours. As a student who's had to adapt to a new environment after moving, I found the online classes particularly helpful in maintaining my academic progress while adjusting to a different lifestyle. The support from both faculty and administration, paired with their commitment to student success, truly reflects their motto, "Start Here. Go Anywhere."
