Go see Corey Dennis at The Bird House!! I absolutely love the concept of Sola Salons where each beautician has their own space they can call their own. I've been with Corey for 4 years now since her time at Aveda. She is extremely talented at creating some beautiful colors, always giving you the option to collaborate on which dyes would pair nicely together. This is what I got done last week and I'm so happy with how it turned out!!

I use Greatful Heads, and it's awesome Cassie is very good hairstylist. Short or long hair it doesn't matter. She helped me with my long beard and shaped it up, and it looks great.

Clean, well lit, parking available. I went to meet April for a touch-up and I just loved how clean and organized everything is at her booth. She gave me a discount that was not expecting. April is my go to aestetitian!!

Justine is an amazing stylist. Never left there less than thrilled with the job she does. Had so much fun talking and visiting with her. Wish i could pack her up and take her home with me....

This is not so much a review of the salon (although I noticed when I was there that the stylists all seemed snotty and self-absorbed), as it is of my stylist, Melissa. Knowing what I know now, I would not recommend this stylist to my worst enemy. As for my experience, I went to see her for extensions. I asked a number of questions before having them applied, including what the maintenance was like. When I first had them applied, she informed me that I would likely only have to have them maintained every two to three months. I also wanted to know if the extensions would be damaging to my hair, and she assured me they would not be because they did not use heat or glue. So I agreed to have them put in. Worst decision of my life. On another occasion, when I went in to see her after several of the extensions had fallen out, causing the damage I feared to happen to my hair, she had another client in the studio. Melissa informed me that this client had only been in once in six months and had only lost one extension in that time. She specifically stated that it was perfectly okay to let the extensions grow away from my head a little bit. Recently, I texted Melissa to inform her that the extensions had grown an inch away from my head, and inquired as to whether I should have them tightened. She said that I should, but that she was busy and would text me later. Five days later she finally texted me back about making an appointment. I gave her several dates -- the 11th, the 14th, and the 17th of December -- and she had zero availability any of those days. Note that while I'm writing this review it is only November 25th! She informed me that she doesn't work Mondays or weekends. She offered me an evening appointment; however, when I informed her that I can not drive after dark due to vision issues, she said, "Oh, I'm sure someone can give you a ride." When I informed her that, no, all of my family is out of state and my husband works evenings, she snarkily replied that I should just get an Uber -- as if I could afford that on top of the maintenance! I finally said, "Fine, what can you do in the daytime between the 26th of December and the 2nd of January?" She said she could pencil me in on the 28th -- and then went off on a huge rant about how when she put the extensions in she "clearly laid out that if my hair grew fast the extensions would have to be moved up every four weeks," -- totally contradicting everything she had said both when I had my extensions put in originally AND when I went back to have them tightened the first time! Not only that, Melissa basically treated me like I was an idiot, when I had asked her about maintenance from the very beginning and what she was saying completely contradicted everything she had told me previously. Then she asked if she should pencil me in for that date. When I replied, "Sure, I guess I have no choice," she retorted that I had plenty of choices. Which was basically the best thing she could have ever said to me, because I immediately went online, found another stylist, and let Melissa know that she could take me off both her calendar and client list. Basically, Melissa lied to me from the beginning about the amount of maintenance my extensions would take. I find that degree of dishonesty extremely disturbing considering the huge investment I had to make to have them applied in the first place, and considering that I specifically inquired about maintenance prior to making the decision to have them applied. Now I am stuck with an expensive bunch of extensions on my head that I will have to pay another stylist to either maintain or remove. Equally disturbing was my husband's experience. He went to Melissa for a trim following my initial and misplaced recommendation (like I said, she seemed nice at first). He told her to trim off maybe an inch -- and she cut off six inches of his hair, stating that, "she didn't like guys with long hair," (um, isn't it what the client likes?). Bottom line -- do not go to Melissa unless you enjoy being lied to and having your hair butchered.
