Rare Essence Studio

Thoroughly enjoyed my first-time experience and results with this salon. Adelaide and the team are fantastic and she helped me with comb twists for an upcoming trip. They turned out great and lasted for 2 weeks. The only limitation is rebooking availability, as I travel for work, and my clients may change their plans with shorter notice. I’ll check their waitlist as an option, as well. Thanks again!

Adeline* gave me a perfect haircut, and Essence styled it exactly how I wanted. All the ladies were so kind, friendly, and welcoming — the atmosphere was genuinely good vibes all around. They greeted me by name thats so lovely and sweet . I also noticed how nicely the plants are taken care of in there. I’m glad I found this place I’d definitely recommend.

Although Kaila was my stylist, I saw everybody else styling and the salon as a whole is impressive and professional! Also it’s pretty cool how they encourage you to book with the other stylist, so if you have a restrictive schedule it’s not weird if chair hop. Will definitely be returning hopefully, they bring back more specials.

I had been coming here for several years, and my main stylist, Alisa, unfortunately left a year ago. She was the only one I trusted to do my hair, and she knew how to do my hair type, so that was a loss for this shop and me. I tried other stylists here, and there were minor issues until this past Saturday. One of the stylists cut off nearly half my length of hair after showing me that only 2 inches would be trimmed off. My hair was past shoulder length in its stretched natural state. The fact that it was so so short in a blow dried state was concerning, and it seemed like the stylist wanted to hurry up in put my cut hair in two French braids before I could analyze the drastic cut. She also used so much heat from a blow dryer I felt like I was going to pass out during the appointment, and I am also now worried about heat damage. I felt like I had no choice but to let her finish the trim despite my discomfort from a trim that took an hour, which is the longest it has ever took for me to get a trim here. Obviously, I didn't name the stylist, but I do want her to learn from this experience and not do this to others. And the shop should not list her as someone who can trim hair if that's not the case. There is a difference between a trim and a hair cut. My hair will grow back in 6-8 months, but I won't be coming here again. I will stick to doing my hair myself and will try local stylists in my area. But I am still currently upset from this experience after driving 2 hours in the rain from my city just to have this happen to my hair.

I was very pleased with the customer service Rare Essence had to offer...from the last minute booking to making me feel as though my concerns were theirs as well...Also Thank you Michelle for an awesome job...yall she was so sw33t to me, I felt like I was back home in the South...so when yall in Arizona and your locs need some TLC, stop on by Rare Essentials...you'll be glad you did... I typically don’t write reviews unless I’m genuinely impressed by the quality of service—or lack thereof. Rare Essence Studio definitely deserves the recognition. I’ve been taking my daughter to Rare Essence Studio for the past three months, and every visit has exceeded my expectations. Consultation: From the moment we arrived, my daughter was greeted warmly and treated with respect, not just as another client. This was particularly important for me as it was the first time I entrusted someone other than myself with my daughter’s hair. The environment was both peaceful and engaging. We received a thorough consultation, including a detailed explanation of her hair type and what styles would work best for her textures. She was paired with a stylist who suited her needs perfectly. Stylists: Kaila - My daughter was assigned to Kaila as her stylist, and I’ve been impressed by Kaila’s meticulous attention to detail and her ability to respond to my daughter’s emotions. Working with children can be challenging, but Kaila’s comforting and welcoming demeanor allowed my daughter to relax, which in turn gave me confidence in the service provided. I appreciate Kaila’s insights on different styles that my daughter can easily maintain at home. Kim - I had the opportunity to get my hair washed and conditioned by Kim while in the salon. Kim truly has "hands of a goddess" provided a perfect balance of product application, ensuring my scalp was clean, moisturized, and at ease. Throughout the process, Kim checked in to make sure I was comfortable with the pressure and engaged me in thoughtful conversation. Overall, Rare Essence Studio offers a comfortable environment and exceptional service. The welcoming atmosphere and genuine interactions make each visit enjoyable. I’ll continue to choose Rare Essence Studio for its outstanding services.

Edit- Heartbroken you no longer do Crochet. I loved this salon and it really has been sad no longer getting my hair done here. Thankfully I found a solution but I can’t help but miss this salon…. Thank you! This salon changed my life. I’m multiracial and the environment is incredibly welcoming. After being treated poorly at a different salon, Rare Essence said was a breath of fresh air. Thank you will never be enough! ♥️
