Roo is my absolute favorite barber. I’ve tried so many cuts with so many stylists and she is the only person I’ve returned to. Her ability to recognize your hair type and create a bespoke style perfect for you is so rare in a one-size-fits-all world. She is the only person I trust to cut both mine and my husband’s hair before all of our major events (including our wedding)!!

Roo has been cutting my hair since I moved to Salt Lake City and has been amazing. I don't always know how to explain how I want my hair cut but she always get it, and it always looks good. In addition to being an excellent stylist, she's super sweet and we always have great conversations. Salt Lake Proper Barber itself is a great shop in an ultra convenient location. I usually make appointments but they take walk-ins as well. It's across the street from City Creek and very easy to get too. The owner also has a cool little soda shop right across from the barbershop. Definitely worth checking out.

I had a phenomenal experience at Proper Barbers in Salt Lake. My barber, Roo, went above and beyond with my beard service and the attention to detail was next level. The entire staff was friendly, authentic, and made the shop feel welcoming from the moment I walked in. This was truly an Olympic-level barber experience and I’ve definitely found my new spot. Highly recommend Roo and the team if you’re looking for a barber who does it the Proper way.

I made my first visit here yesterday. Dominique did a phenomenal job with my hair and made me feel right at home. Being new to Utah, I had to trust she’d get it right and I’m glad I chose her. It was the most deliberate and precise haircut of my life. Mix that all in with the best smelling products, hot towel to the head, and neck massage, everything felt over the top. It was a premium experience and I look forward to my next visit. @Dominique, thanks for the warm welcome and getting my hair squared away for my new job! A+ all the way.

James cut our son’s hair and was friendly, welcoming, and incredibly precise. Our son has some next-level cowlicks (the kind that have their own personality 😂), and James handled them like a pro. He even asked a colleague for advice to make sure the cowlicks were tamed and looking their best—above and beyond, in our book. This was our first time visiting Salt Lake Proper and we loved it. The staff was friendly from the moment we walked in until we left, and the vibes made us feel like we’ve been bringing Tyler here for years—even though it was literally our first visit. From what I saw today, I’d confidently trust any of the staff with a great cut. Amazing experience, great laughs, and a kid who actually likes his haircut… win all around. We’ll definitely be back!

This place is a gem and the people are better. Dominique was incredibly patient with someone who never took hair care seriously. She's incredibly knowledgeable, and totally curious about what I've been doing and how to customize my hair routine and style. Great atmosphere.

Malori is incredible! The best part she is LGBT+ friendly, very outgoing and wants to connect with you. Not just typical barber she has an incredible eye for detail, can utilize your face shape for the best haircuts and is honestly the best barber I’ve ever had. If you are queer and need a safe place, haircut, and barber! She’s your girl 😁
