I came to Andrew Leo earlier on Saturday and had one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a hair salon. I requested a blow out with some loose curls and what I got was something I could’ve done at home in 30 minutes and saved $53. My hair was left frizzy and not smooth at all, which defeats the entire purpose of a blow out. See attached photo. Bad blow out aside, the behavior from Cathy was just so unprofessional and out of line. She said multiple times that my hair was fried even though she had just put very high heat on it, causing it to look that way. She also suggested that I hair cut another time to take care of that. I didn’t ask for unsolicited advice on my hair, just wanted a professional blow out. Not only that she made some very strange comments about how Indians (I’m Indian) are considered Caucasian. She’s more than capable of keeping this to herself.

Been going to kathy bout once a year for close to six years and always very happy with my haircuts. The pictures are my last 3 haircuts.

I brought my boyfriend here for his first salon experience and we could not be happier! He grew out his hair during quarantine and wanted to keep it longer, but was not sure exactly how he wanted it cut since it was always short. We made an appointment with Chris and I am so glad that we did! Chris took the time at the beginning of the appointment to look at images that my boyfriend had saved as well as look at his hair and listen to what he was looking for. He was on time, quick but precise, and made the both of us feel really comfortable in the space for the first time. My boyfriend LOVES his haircut to the point where he hasn't stopped playing with it in the mirror since he got it...LOL. If you are looking for a confidence boost and people who will help you reach exactly what you are looking for, I definitely recommend heading to this salon!

I've never had my hair cut here; I go with my boyfriend who had been a client for years. It's clean, bright, inviting and the employees are all friendly. Clientele sometimes have a superiority complex (especially to me, a man of mixed ethnicity) but I love their magazine choices and the presentation of the waiting area. I've never partaked, but they offer coffee (and possibly other beverages?). Chris is so friendly and always looks sharp and well put together!

I am going to start this off by saying that due to some really bad hair cuts at other places I have always been nervous to get my hair cut. My husband started going here first and said that I should try it. I am so happy that he urged me to go! I have seen almost all of the stylists at this point and have loved them all. They are patient and really listen to what I want when I go in. I always feel confident and beautiful when I walk out! Not only have they now done my cuts, they did my hair on my wedding day. Additionally, I have allergic reactions to hair color and have not colored my hair in about 15 years. When I wanted to try again they took my concerns very seriously. Sadly I discovered that I still have an allergy, but they gave me other options like highlighting so I can still blend. I don't know what I will do if I ever have to leave PGH, but while I am here I will always go to Andrew Leo!

I really like the quality of the hair color used at Andrew Leo - ammonia free, gentle on the hair and creates a high degree of shine. I see the stylist, Johnnie who is excellent. The staff have been friendly and helpful both over the phone and in the salon from Day 1.

TL;DR Bad customer service, stylists don't listen. Will never go back. I have been going to Johnnie for about a year now. He does a good job on my hair, but he doesn't really listen and my experience a week ago proves that more than ever. I will never go back to Andrew Leo and here's why: 6-7 weeks ago I had my regular hair cut with Johnnie. The time for my next scheduled appointment fell very close to my wedding day. I told Johnnie I would like to schedule on June 21 because I was getting married at the judge that day and it would be nice to have my hair freshly cut and styled. (As a note, I would have gladly paid extra for the service if it was above and beyond a regular cut and style. I just wanted my hair to look nice in my pictures.) It seems despite our conversation and my repeated mentions of my wedding day, he didn't bother to note that on my upcoming appointment. Fast forward to June 21. My appointment is at 10. At 8:30 I get a call from someone at Andrew Leo asking to reschedule my appointment. This is not the first time Johnnie has rescheduled my appointments on the day of- it has happened at least twice before and, again, I've only been going to him for a year. So I probably should have known better than to count on him. The person from Andrew Leo attempted to find another time for me to come in that day, but I was on a tight schedule and none of the other appointments worked. It was obvious by the conversation that Johnnie canceled for a reason that was not a grave illness. Regardless, there wasn't anything I could do about it and my hair still needed cut so I rescheduled for Saturday. Luckily, I found another salon who could style my hair for my wedding. That Saturday I went to the salon. In hindsight, I should have just canceled, but I needed my hair cut. I have always liked my hair when Johnnie cuts it and it was easier to go back then to find a new a salon on such short notice. When I got there, Johnnie gave me the most insincere 2-minute apology, followed by a 15-minute story about why he couldn't make it in on Wednesday. I suppose I should be impressed, he has never apologized before when he has rescheduled my appointments at the last minute, so that was a first. When I went up to pay, I was shocked to hear Johnnie tell me that the amount due was the same amount I usually pay. I have over ten years of customer service experience and I cannot believe that after canceling on my wedding day, the salon would have the gall to charge me full price for my rescheduled haircut. At any of the customer service jobs I have had, the rescheduled service would have been free, but even a discount would have been less of a slap in the face than full price. I shouldn't have rescheduled, but I have learned my lesson. I will NEVER go back to Andrew Leo salon. I have told many of my friends already and will spread the word of my terrible experience. There are lots of salons in Pittsburgh, don't bother with this one.
