Title: Worst Salon Experience Ever – Rude, Unprofessional, and Completely Out of Line I took my 15-year-old daughter here for a 2:30 p.m. appointment that had been scheduled over a month in advance. I even sent a photo ahead of time so the salon could see exactly what service was needed — taking down her braids and extensions, detangling, etc. From the start, the stylist named Queenie was rude, dismissive, and had a nasty attitude. She didn’t even greet us — just called my daughter over like she was doing her a favor. I decided to stay calm and left my daughter there, hoping things would go smoothly. Not even 20 minutes later, my daughter texted me that the stylist had stopped working on her hair mid-service to start another client’s braids. She was told to get up and go sit somewhere else while the stylist worked on another person — with no explanation or apology. When I called the salon to ask what was going on, the person at the front desk tried to justify it by saying they "sometimes have to do that to keep the schedule on track." So apparently, it’s fine to completely throw off my appointment just to stay on schedule for someone else. Completely unacceptable. At that point, I told them to end the appointment immediately. I didn’t even want this stylist touching my daughter’s hair again. When I got there, they tried to charge me $95 for work that wasn’t even a quarter finished. The manager wouldn’t even come to the phone — she had the front desk relay messages and offered $20 off. I refused and only paid $40 out of principle — which was already more than fair. And then I found out what happened while I was gone: Queenie and another stylist who was working next to her were talking about my daughter right in front of her. My daughter told me afterward that Queenie was making comments about her and saying things to the other stylist — basically talking trash and berating a 15-year-old child while she sat there quietly in the chair. Absolutely disgusting behavior. What grown adults sit around gossiping and mocking a teenager who’s right in front of them? That’s not just unprofessional — it’s bullying. And on top of all that, I later realized she had cut my daughter’s hair while taking out the extensions — something no stylist should ever do. When removing braids or extensions, you’re supposed to avoid cutting the natural hair or trim only slightly if you’re completely sure where the extensions end. She cut way too much off, which just made an already horrible situation even worse. This entire experience was beyond unacceptable — rude, unprofessional, careless, and outright disrespectful. Two adults behaving like that toward a minor is completely out of line. I will never return, and I strongly urge anyone — especially parents — to stay far away from this salon if you expect your child to be treated with basic respect, care, and professionalism.
Had a great experience! This was my first time getting my natural hair silk pressed and it looks like I got a relaxer! Wow! Got a trim as well. Thank you Genece I really enjoyed my experience. Also very timely! Started on time and finished on time. Can’t beat that. 👍🏾👍🏾
I can't say enough about my stylist M. Jackson. She's professional and always starts on time. She has been styling my natural hair for over a year she has even done my mother. Her work is always neat and long lasting. She has also installed foe locks for me. Although typically she styles my natural hair in a braided updo or mohawk. As far as the location it's always clean, well kept and the stylists are professional and the environment is very peaceful. My only caveat is that you must make appointments in advance as all the stylists become booked very quickly. Additionally do not make appointments you have no intention of keeping because it will prevent others from filling that space. Lol 😆
My experience with this shop has been a roller coaster. In the beginning, they were a big hit. Somewhere over the years, their quality and customer service has declined. Most recently I called to make an appointment for myself and my six years old daughter. I expressed to them my dissatisfaction from my previous visit and some other client mistreatment I had witnessed. Alittle girl with lots of hair screamed the whole time as the stylist combed, blow dried, straightened and braided her hair. I watched as the stylist combed her hair from the root then tightly braided her hair on her sore scalp. Then they had the nerve to say she was tender headed. This bothered my because I expected more from a place that initially praised natural hair care. The same day a different hair stylist ripped so much of my hair out by combing from the root as well. I thought this practice was dead. Anywho, I digress. I expressed my concerns and past experiences with the receptionist and request a stylist who would be gentle and actually take care of our hair. This must have made all the stylist back away as the owner ended up doing my daughter's hair. If she was not experienced with executing kinky twists neatly then she should have just come out and said it. My daughter's hair looked awful. I wish I had not paid. It was a pretty penny for a style that I had to redo myself. With less experience I was able to twist my daughter's hair so much better than the owner of a salon. My advice to the owner of the shop is to ensure that your stylists place a little more value on their clients hairstyle as well as hair care. Start with gently combing out tangles from the ends of the hair instead yanking them from the roots. Furthermore, take into account customer feedback so that their experience can be more pleasant. Not take that feedback and use as fuel to mistreat the customer. The way my and my daughter's hair was done felt blatant as a result of me expressing my concerns. If that was not the case, my concerns were still ignored. Once again my hair was ripped from the root and told that my ends were split. The stylist trimmed my ends and proceeded to ripped my hair from my scalp again.i felt exactly what that child felt years ago. All in all, I came back because I wanted to give them another chance. Never again.
I was really impressed with my experience with Nicole. I was trying to achieve a mix of colors that I saw on loose hair even though I have locs, which is not an easy thing. I have had negative experiences in the past with hair color and was very nervous. I met her on 3 different occasions: a quick hair color consultation, a color test, and then the color. Each time I met with Nicole, she was very accommodating and helpful. She never gave an attitude and answered all of my many questions. She was patient as I waffled between the decisions of the exact colors I wanted. Today, when she colored my hair, at first, I was not 100% satisfied. I felt like some areas were a little too bright. I said that "it was ok." She said that she didn’t want it to be ok, she wanted me to like what I had. She took the time to explain what could be done and to fix the areas that I wasn’t pleased with. I am so thankful of the way that she handled the situation and I really like how my hair turned out. I will definitely book her again and will recommend her to others. Thank you, Nicole, your professionalism, kindness, and patience was not in vain and meant a lot to me.
