Best salon experience I’ve had. The owners are really lovely people. Mr. Yang washed my hair very well and it was really relaxing. Mrs. Yang cut and styled my hair amazing and so gently, it was an amazing experience and my hair never felt healthier. I will forsure be coming back!

I asked for a wavy perm here for $200, and now, less than two weeks later, my hair is nearly straight with some parts completely straight. I’ve gotten perms in the past and they usually last two months at the least. I believe Modern used an acid perm, which is known to not hold on Asian hair, but when I asked, they did not seem to know the difference. When I went in again to discuss how to proceed, they offered no consolation. Instead, they said I could come in again and pay full price for another service within the next week, which is not only dismissive, but also unprofessional as having two perms within such a small time frame would severely damage hair. They do not seem to either know or care much about permed hair. I’m sure their cuts are fine, but if you’re looking for a perm of any sort, I’d suggest you look elsewhere.

I got a magic straight perm here and I’m beyond happy with the result — it turned out so beautifully! The owners, a lovely couple, were incredibly kind, genuine, and welcoming. I was truly touched by their warm hospitality. I was also deeply moved that they gave me a complimentary treatment — such a thoughtful gesture. I’ll definitely be coming back again!

Great place would recommend. Mr Yang will get you right and Mrs Jung will wash your hair very well. Nice calming music on the inside and you will be in and out in under 15 minutes. Harin yang might also be there doing homework he’s a very chill guy. I will definitely be coming back.

I recently got a trim/layers similar to a wolfcut and balayage here- it was the best experience I’ve ever had! Highly recommend! I can confidently say this is the only hair salon I trust to cut and style my hair. The stylists were extremely kind, friendly and exceedingly professional. The salon itself was also kept very neat. I’m usually nervous about getting my hair cut after a few mediocre experiences, but this place blew my mind! You could tell the stylists knew exactly what they were doing, and were trimming my hair in the way you would see in celebrity hair styling compilations. I’m happy to say this is the only place I trust to get my hair cut, dyed or styled!

Mr. and Mrs. Yang are both so kind and easygoing! I went from mid-length hair to a chic a-line bob. I just showed Mrs. Yang a picture and her technique and skillz was on par! She did an amazing job. Loving my hair style. Thank you Mrs. Yang! Would totally recommend their salon! They are a cool couple 😀

I came all the way from The Loop Chicago to receive a perm and haircut, and I’ll definitely be coming back! Mr. Yang and his wife are very friendly, and it’s clear that they’ve been styling hair for a very long time. The perm was very strong and high-quality.
