Update October: my hair is breaking all the way down the entire strand of where Ari dyed it. Ive had my hair dyed blonde for years and this is the first time I've had this experience. I cannot put into words the amount of stress and heartache this has caused me. I asked in the beginning if she was comfortable and could do what I asked. She said yes. This was not the truth. I will have to grow my hair out for a year if not more to have healthy hair again. Would never recommend Ari. This has been devastating. Ari is very sweet, but I am very disheartened by my haircut and the way my hair was dyed. Totally okay if not familiar with short cuts, but I did ask if she was familiar when we met and she said yes to both the cut and dye. So I trusted her experience. My hair looks hacked at and it was razored at the ends but not thinned out properly. the hair cut was not even 10 minutes long. I also asked for half guard and there are entire areas she missed. I also am familiar with my hair and asked if she would be able to achieve the color already dyed, this was unfortunately not my experience as I left with a lot of brassy areas. Again, she's very kind and sweet, but to pay almost 300 dollars and have this as the outcome for both cut and color, I feel gutted and devastated. My hair means a lot to me. Im very attached to my hair so I'm feeling extremely upset and now have to pay another 385 for someone to fix it. Please please be upfront with clients if you aren't confident with short cuts and achieving the blonde that was already in my hair. I am requesting for a refund. Update: my hair is breaking off. I've had my hair dyed blondes many times and this has never happened.

I cannot share enough about how fantastic of a job Tawny does. I’ve been going to her since the summer of last year, and every time I’ve gone, I was nothing short of amazed. Tawny also is incredibly helpful of you have any questions regarding maintenance or other products you might want to try. Since I have very long and thick hair (not to brag!) our time together is nearly her whole shift, but from start to finish she’s always professional and excited to be with me!

Tawny is literally the best. I came in with inspiration of wanting to go to a coppery red color and she did such a beautiful job! She really listens to her clients, and finally after so many years of being afraid to go to stylists due to very bad past experiences, I'm so glad to say that I have full faith in her work.

The three times experience I came here was with Tawny. The first time was to talk about the color I wanted and pricing which she walked me through and made me feel comfortable. Then it was to dye my hair purple for a concert and halloween, and the other for both to dye my hair a different color and a haircut. I could not help but feel more confident after leaving the salon and I truly appreciate her. She is talented and generous. I truly recommend her

I’ve been coming here since I moved to New Haven and getting my hair cut by Tawny. She is the absolute best and always rocks it!! Literally have asked her to do everything from a razor cut mullet to 2010s long layers with a side bang and she never disappoints. Tawny is the absolute best!!

i’ve been coming to skull and combs for about a year now and i have an amazing experience every time i come in! tawny is such a great hair stylist and always does exactly what i want. on top of delivering magnificent hair cuts she’s also such a kind person and very easy to get along with! as a cosmo student myself it’s great to have her as a resource because she is so knowledgeable about this craft! love tawny and skull and combs 🙂 !

Ari is hands down the only barber I trust. She consistently delivers a fresh, clean cut every single time, to the point where I never even feel the need to check her work. The experience is always relaxed and enjoyable, and it’s honestly something I look forward to. And as if that wasn’t enough, Bubba, the cutest puppy ever, is always there to keep you company. Great vibes, great cuts, every visit.
