Marcia's Beauty Salon & African Hair Braiding

I’ve gone to this salon twice. The first time for starter locs (2 strand twist with interlocked roots) was a pretty good experience and good wash was included. However, the price was a little steep and changed when they saw my hair because it is thick which I never understand. The second time i called to make an appointment and was told to come in early morning. I had a meeting to attend 2 hours and change after the appointment start time. I waited for 40 minutes, 2 other clients who came in after me were taken ahead of me and the receptionist called whichever stylist to see where she was but didn’t update me. I won’t be back but 2 stars because the starter locs were done well.

If I could leave a negative stars, I absolutely would. I came in for passion twists and had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a salon. First, the stylist didn’t even ask me what method I preferred (braided first or just twisted). She went ahead and did it her way, which left my hair looking bulky and messy. When I pointed it out respectfully and showed her how I wanted it to look, she refused to fix it at first and only agreed to redo the very top, leaving the back looking completely different. From the beginning, she was unprofessional— I arrived on time at 7:45 a.m. and she took an entire hour to even start, walking in and out, worrying about breakfast, until another braider had to tell her to get going. I was the only customer there at this point mind you. Throughout the service she had an attitude, smacked her teeth, gossiped with coworkers (including about customers), and even walked around with no shoes on. She kept saying her hands hurt and that she didn’t want to fix my hair. At the very end, she even admitted she wasn’t good at passion twists—so why take me as a client in the first place? I left unhappy, and within a short walk home, multiple twists had already unraveled. I’ve never had such an unprofessional, careless experience and I will not be coming back. Just unprofessional.

I came with my hair prewashed and blown put. You don't have to, but I have very thick 4c hair and it makes the whole process go smoothly. I brought my own hair, but they do sell hair there too. This is the 2nd time I've gotten a braided faux hawk style and I loved it. The style in the picture was $180.

They do an awesome job. I call my stylist—-Magic Hands. Polite, patient and professional. I definitely recommend them.

Absolutely, amazing. Any hairstyle you want? They will achieve it quick. a real beauty salon? Not this new age nonsense.

Very money hungry, I told them I wanted buttlength from the very beginning. The lady continued to braid my hair to back length then pretended like she didn’t hear what I said at the end. My only issue was that I was still charged the price of butt length.

For my first time experience. It wasn't bad at all. I don't know why and how all these peeps had such a terrible experience at Marcia's salon. My homegirl recommended her, so I gave it a shot. I will be back this weekend 🙌🏾 great job and professional staff. I had everyone cracking 🤣 up good times!!
