Haircutters in the Park - Aveda Lifestyle Salon

Annaliese! Sweet Annaliese styled my 93 yo MIL hair twice this past month, color/cut/style. MY MIL is hard of hearing and fragile when it comes to moving around, she suffered a stroke at year ago, it's difficult at times for her to express herself. Annaliese takes the time to listen, she's kind and has a sparkling warmth that made my MIL so comfortable. My MIL has fine thin hair(so she didn't have a lot to work with), however she left the salon looking beautiful each time.

Hair Cutters In The Park is a HUGE disappointment. The woman on the phone this morning was incredibly rude. Today is the third time an appointment was rescheduled the DAY of. I complained about this and asked that this not happen again. I understand people get sick, but if this is a repeated problem and the same appointment has been rescheduled over and over again, then this isn't okay. She offered to give my appointment to another stylist (though we had previous horrible experiences with others). I informed her of this and asked what could be done if we chose another stylist and didn't enjoy their services -again-. Instead of explaining what could be done, she told me that I could not be on the schedule anymore because she didn't like my attitude. This was the most rude service I had ever experienced from any hair salon. They CANNOT keep appointments, repeated rescheduling of the same appointments, and then after complaining, they blame -me-. I did not request to reschedule these and, every single call before, I agreed to reschedule when -they asked-. Do not come here if you actually want to get your hair done in a timely manner (or at all).

It was my first time here and I had a great experience! Lupita was very nice, she did my haircut and I really liked the cut and the way she styled it!

They have an employee who makes her living off of tips but can’t tip a delivery driver delivering her @JimmyJohns order. I was paid $1.50 to deliver her food and it took 20 minutes to get it to her. Don’t tip their employees because they don’t need the extra money. Stand up against these people. Pay for your hair care they’ve made it clear that no tipping is okay. Her name is Janice. Don’t ever tip her because she won’t tips you if the roles are reversed

I had made an appointment to touch up my balayage. I had also decided on cutting my hair shorter, which took off most of the existing coloring. I showed the stylist the color I was going for and asked if it was done using balayage or block coloring because there was dimension in color. Instead of balayage, she suggest an ombré and insisted it would get the same dimensional result as the photo. I have dark brown hair and the goal was a light brown. After 6 hours in the chair she did a blow dry and sent me off. I noticed in the shop it looked yellow, but I thought it might look different in the sun. I got down the block before deciding I look like I am trying to channel my inner Pikachu. I’ve never had a messed up color and I did not know what the options were to fix it. I called the front desk and the gal was super nice when I expressed my disliking for the color and didn’t know what to do. She asked if I wanted to speak to my stylist and the stylist and I decided it could be fixed with a toner. Upon returning I learned she was a new stylist. And I get it. This is how you learn. But sending me away looking like the next Pokémon is not okay. With the help of another stylist she was able to get it closer to a brown color. She was not flustered (despite me crying) and super kind and apologized. I live in a different state and visit AZ often, and I know there’s not much I can do now. But upon further examination of the ombré technique, it is very blocky. I can only part my hair down the center even though we discussed I part my hair off center to deep part. I cannot do a cute half up half down situation. I enjoy getting my hair done in Arizona because they are more up to date with trends than in South Dakota, but at this point I feel I could have gotten a better coloring here in SD.

Haircutters is in a beautiful building, just down the road from the Wigwam. It's located in a great area, nice quiet streets, but close to the 10 Freeway and Indian School. There are cafe's around the corner for a bite to eat before or after your appointment. I recently moved to the area and was trying to find an upscale professional salon and heard about Haircutters from a friend. I have been going to Aveda salons for years and was happy to find Haircutters uses and sells Aveda products. I looked at their reviews and bios online and picked a stylist. I've been here twice now. They offer many products and services, not just hair. They offer waxing and facials and massages. They have a nail salon. I was very happy with my cut and color, my stylist listened to what I wanted and needed. I received a hot towel on my hair during conditioning, and a hand massage. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I was taken aback by some gossiping that I heard the first time I was here, and just thought that it was young and untrained staff that just hadn't learned professionalism. Unfortunately I encountered it again from experienced staff that should know better. Talking about Clients and Staff in an unflattering way behind their back and after they have left is not something I want to hear, it made me uncomfortable. My stylist rushed through my appointment when she was busy talking to another member of the staff. Unfortunately I won't be back - this just wasn't the place for me.

Annaliese was mine and my nieces stylist today and she was incredible. Overall the experience was pleasant. We were greeted with smiles when we walked in. I noticed they offer water as well, which is a kind gesture. Annaliese was great, she washed, cut and styled mine and my nieces hair and we are obsessed. She is also super gentle while combing and washing our hair. She also took the time to answer questions and give me great feedback on caring for my hair at homez We’re so happy we found a great but also genuine kind person to style and care for our hair! We will definitely be back.
