Hair Talk

I asked for long, blended layers with a U-shape, showing a photo of Rachel Green from Season 5 of "Friends" as inspiration. I'm aware the inspiration photo shows hair that is styled and I don't expect my hair to look like that right after a typical hair wash at home. But what I did see after my first hair wash was this: choppy, unblended short layers with a V-shape. If you zoom into the photos, it looks like like the top layer is just cut straight across! Previously, my hair was intentionally highlighted only at the top with the hair under the highlights dark, making it high contrast. I was shocked to find out that Andy didn't take the time blend the highlights at the top with the dark hair portion. I will mention that he did ask me if there was anything he'd like me to fix about the haircut, but that was after the majority of the haircut and when it was half-dry so in the moment it's definitely hard to discern what I needed. He could have asked that question a quarter way into the service instead of three-fourths in when the haircut is basically finished. Before leaving the chair, I wasn't given the opportunity to see the back of my head and it's easy to hide the flaws of a haircut by leaving with it styled, so I was satisfied right up until I washed my hair and saw how uneven it looked. Some positive things I'd like to highlight: I really appreciate Hair Talk for being accommodating for my last minute appointment for my haircut. The staff was very kind, friendly and the salon was clean. I came here because of a friend's suggestion. However, what matters to me is the haircut itself, which is why I'm giving 2 stars (1 extra star because of the kindness of staff and pleasant environment).

I made an appointment with Sarah based on a friend's recommendation. She pays attention to details and answered any hair questions I had clearly. She continuously checked in with me to make sure that the cut looked like I wanted, and was able to answer any questions that I had. For cutting, washing, and blow drying my hair, the price was slightly on the more high end side of salons, but still decently priced and very worth it. The lady that washed my hair was also super nice, and she and Sarah were both gentle with my hair. Update: I've been going to Sarah for my cuts for roughly two years now! She always remembers the style I like my hair and never trims off more than I ask for. She colored my hair once when I gave her a reference photo and she did a great job getting it to look natural and blend in with my previous coloring! Unfortunately, she's leaving soon... I also had my hair done with balayage by Migo and it came out looking really nice!

The customer service was off the charts. Not only did my stylist go above and beyond, but Yohan also did an amazing job with color. Thank you to Yohan for an incredible experience!

Yoshan did my hair here. I asked for a balayage and got streaky blonde. The salon was clean and the staff were friendly but I was not happy with the outcome. Yoshan spent so much time on my hair and I am so impressed he was able to lighten my virgin black hair to a bright blonde, but he wasn’t able to blend the color into my natural black. Leaving me with patchy stripes.

I had the best experience with Andy and his assistant. They were both very nice and professional. The treatment I wanted to do with my hair was kinda complicated but Andy listened very well and paid attention to my request. I did hair straightening and perm at the same time btw (half straight and half perm)! I super loved the result! Will definitely do it again with them next time!

Hair Talk is my go-to place for any hair needs. The salon is very clean, and staffs are welcoming. They make sure to take time to understand what clients want and if client's current hair condition can actually hold the requested style, ensuring the client's hair healthiness a top priority - which I love ❤️. Migo is a manager and my main hairstylist. She is super talented, professional and honest; I don't have to say a lot and she already knows what color/style can best suit me. I've done magic straight perm, coloring with/without bleach, Korean digital perm, haircut, balayage, etc.. She never fails! My tip for booking a time with Migo is that you do it in advance - she is very popular and usually fully booked 2 months ahead. When I visit her, I make several future reservations so that I can keep my hair routine in time and still get it done by Migo. I've got my hair done by a few other designers, Sarah and Andy, who are also very, very talented and worth kudos, despite the fact that I'm picky and not an easy client at all when it comes to hair. Overall, my experience at Hair Talk has been extremely satisfying and pleasant. 💯💯💯
